Ah yeah! Can't be an RC pilot if you can't deal with the destruction that comes with it. It made a great crunch when it hit the ground from 30 ft up. I wodded it up good. Surprised that the sections in the pivot mechanism didn't break on the main boards.
New arms long, medium, and a 306 servo on the way.
Only consolation is that it will rain for the rest of the week.

Well I finally got my talon in the air last night. I have had a few quads and a few hex, but this is my first tri. I can't believe how well it flies and how stable it is. I wrapped LED's around the arms, and it's super bright at night....I went with the digital 306 and am very happy with that choice....

I did run into 1 problem with the KK2 board. When I first tried to get the tri off the ground it started spinning. I read that you had to reverse the yaw settings under MISC, but I missed the part where you had to change the channel in the upper left of the menu. After I figured that out, the default settings were amazingly stable.

I got mine going as well.
I running KK2 with HK F30A simonk on 2200mAh Nanotechs
2 forward motors are NTM 28-26A 1200KV with 8045 Gemfans and
tail is 306 driven with a SunnySky 2212 980KV and 9045 Gemfan

I have had a couple of runs at tuning the KK2 and already it flies very well. I had to up the Yaw P to get the type of rudder response I wanted but all I need now is some time to get out and fly it and all the other things I have!

I have some drift rearwards on hard punch outs because the 980KV motor with 9045 isn't generating the lift of the two 8045 1200KV motors at the front. Haven't really tried it in autolevel yet though. That needed quite a bit of trim to stop a left drift - I'm suspecting that the motor power is a little different as everything looks pretty well levelled.

Emptied five packs with my Talon Tri in the sunset yesterday.

Fornebu Tricopter Flights (1 min 49 sec)

Now it is rock solid on the Baseflight MultiWii.

My experience so far:
Yes, the motor mounts bend in any type of crash. So far I've just bent them back. A hard crash and the front arms are also a weak spot due to the slit in the arms that is needed because of the folding mechanism.

And I have killed one tail servo already. So order plenty of them...

But I absolutely love it. Takes a couple of seconds to unfold and fold back again. Fits nicely in a not too big suitcase and flies very, very well.

Buddy Code for Turnigy H.A.L. Motor Mount Set

Should fit 14mm tubes. The H.A.L. has 14mm tube, just like the Talon V2.

I rebuilt and added the LEDs. I'm curious if others are packing in servos with crashes. Eirik mentioned his servo problems. My rcexplorer tri after dozens of crashes never broke a servo. I wonder if elevated tail/ landing gear prevent the props from hitting the ground in a crash and sparing the servo. I'm thinking of mounting the motor under the tail mount plate to balance out the load, or at least lowering the cg on the pivot point, closer to the bearings. This may reduce the twisting forces on impact.
I guess we all need to fly better and avoid crashes by hey, where's the fun in that.

Hi,
I think this will be the right spare for the landing and engine part of the tri-copter:

Yes it is but its more expensive. The one i link should be very similar. I bought a few and will test. I have two broke motor mounts to replace and the Talon V2 mounts you linked are more money.

Talon V2 mounts $8.83 Buy three of these and its $26.49
HAL mounts $ 2.85* with Buddy Code. Buy three of these and its $8.55

Big Difference i think
