Same for me, just one pack on the HK450 pro! Must be that pesky Global Warming kicking in again!

I'm with you! They say the weather swings are part of it, but my nabor reminded me of 1979 Christmas. I was 70 degrees out (I then remembered riding my bike around waiting for guest to arrive) and by new years it was wind chills of below -60. He remembers because he was trying to fix a rental property. We all only think of history or weather in our own life time and we forget that ours is only a hiccup in time.

My lipos didn't like the cold, I didn't keep them warm.

Here's a data log from the first flight yesterday. The current readings aren't right on the 45A Superbrain ESC, but the other parameters are fine.

Now here's the flight this morning, with the same pack. you can see that the governor can't hold the HS, and the rpm sag under load, and the throttle gets to 100% a lot, and the minimum voltage is lower.

Going to have to try pre-warmed packs next!

I don't know your voltage looks good. I would say the effect was the electronics or your frozen fingers lol!

Yeah, I always think I reach a sort of plateau in my flying skills, but maybe I fell off the cliff this morning!

I would be more afraid of the people screaming that lipos ( some of the most violent chemical burning things in existence) are going to end the world. If the green people knew just a fraction of what they think is green energy is green. Most would vomit. A green car will pollute more than a real Humvee fact!. Green energy comes at a cost much higher than going green. But they say it is a start lol! I only have respect for a true green person and they are the ones willing to give up everything, but what they don't understand is that by doing so there will be more pollution in uncontrolled forest fires than giving it all up.

There's green people here?

Actually it seems that's political commercialism, living here it seems like nobody gives a rat's about the environment or anything.

Wanna hear problems bigger than pollution? Greed; an estimated 18 billion people could survive off of earth's replenishing resources living at a average minimum survival, but if everyone live like americans lived only something like 2.2 billion. I don't hate america, I can't, I live here, I'm not bashing america it's just an example. It's funny, because the next problem I'm thinking of is population itself. This is because we (humans) can't control our greed or consumption.

To keep up the thread topic, no I didn't fly today... I'm still mourning my trex 450 pro crashed maiden takeoff due to ailerons being plugged in to opposite channels. And I have to level the swashplate, as I leveled it the other day with the trim I added on the 2nd flight, stupid me.

I didn't fly since Sunday, but read good story in the New Scientist: some Swedish scientists (read no political agenda) said that global warming is on since mid/late 19. century. (they have analised peatland and formed a theory that you can read about natural cycles (Sun spots?) in carbon stored in them. Also, talked about the role of it capturing lots of carbon and initiating start of 'small ice ages' (and put couple of example in last 1000 years history). If I remembered it correctly last one was supposed to start somewhere in late 19. or 20. century but is somehow postponed by industrial revolution. Nothing to do with cars as they weren't invented then yet. (or at least there weren't more than a couple of 1000 in total).

So, by them, all this 'global warming' it actually helping us far more than harming.

BTW On Tuesday I put my nano + TX in car to be with me all the time, but temperature today here is around -5ºC so not 100% sure I would be even trying it... Brrr...

The plane guys are real smart huh?

When I was a kid we were told that global warming was a problem created by man's pollution and that the earth would become uninhabitable by the early 2010's. Even thinking this way, we kept on the way we were going... we didn't care, or our addictions were too great.

Now they say that global warming is a natural occurrence, and that all the planets are warming up together. Man's pollution does have an affect on warming but it's negligible compared to natural events. Why stop huh, if it's negligible compared to a solar system wide event ?

The sun has multiple cycles other than the popular 11 year sunspot cycle. I'm guessing that might be the reason why we haven't seen the delayed ice age yet. On the other hand, if we did postpone the ice age with our pollution and trapped heat, I don't want to be around (and I'm glad I don't have kids) when that ice age cycle ends and all we have is trapped heat. Then Venus will truly be our sister planet.

I read somewhere that in 30 years of the Industrial Revolution we put more pollution into the atmosphere than we have since then (and before the revolution) all together. Imagine if we stayed on that route. Places like China don't care because their elite will just use air purifiers everywhere they go including in their chauffeured cars. American elite would do the same thing... will do the same eventually.

Some say the economy is just as fragile as the environment, so there's no way we could do away with mass pollution. All I know is that if we are affecting earth, she will not die, we will, then she will come back... and maybe that's time's plan, for us to destroy ourselves. Maybe we're not the proverbial center of the universe . My conservative, non-scientific, uncle (who I love to death) says this guy whose name starts with a G (or J, or don't ever try to say or think his real name or essence of being) will step in long before any of that happens... I say bad things happen every day to innocent people. In a sense we're all innocent... supposedly created with sicknesses and demanded to become well.

I probably sound ignorant to some, well I am humanly ignorant... I'll accept that.

Flying- I'm going to fly everything I have today. My 450 clone started a slow left piro problem I have to figure out as well. I did get my 450rex re-leveled and re-threadlocked, ready to go, no trim .

HK450 and the art of car maintenance....

Two flights this morning in crisp, sunny and flat calm 45f conditions. Wish I'd brought more packs for my 450, but I flew with packs I'd pre-warmed in my pockets. Data logs showed it made a difference - throttle wasn't maxing out as it was the other day at 40f.

@mhills - thanks for putting me onto PartsGeek! I've now replaced both headlights and the passenger mirror on my minivan, for $118. (though I could have got myself an HK500TT FBL for that...... ) You might say I've done it with clone parts, which gives me some satisfaction too - the O.E.M. stuff would have run to approaching $400.

Who's gonna be the first to warn me of the dangers of clone auto parts? Maybe some objects may be even closer than the clone mirror suggests!

That just means you know how to fly lol! I use to think that poor people kept the clones going. Now I know it's rich people who don't know how to fly lol!

Once you know how to fly and your poor like me all you want is something that will not fail!
