Congrats to everyone who made it to the finals!

The models used by most of the Finnish were very nice - they reminded me of tropical fish in the air, both by shape and the colour schemes.

The Spanish team also had really nice models they had made themselves, with very clever and extremely effective movable air brakes on the canalyzers.

And of course the South African team all had the same model, a very nice biplane done as a group build. (Xavier has lots of pictures of them, but has not posted one yet)



All three would be on my short list of models I would love to build some day.

Kimmo's new plane is actually Bruckmann's Trivia but built by Kimmo using a completely different method and construction vs. the original. If you look more closely, you'll see the GB Models logo on the wing.

Janne's Rane (= Random plane) is a further developed evolution of the Trivia. Janne designed the changes, construction and color schemes by himself. Of course, Iiro helped him and built his own plane. All three Finns are using Kimmo's geared contra drive with carbon props made by Kimmo.

Friday they will fly the AF13 for the finals, and then on Saturday the AM will be flown. Looking forward to that, one of the reasons I decided to come

The auxiliary props are on the outer part of the wing facing "up".
It was explained that with the contra system the speed in the torque roll can be hard to maintain constant, so they are there to help with this.

I should have mentioned that is was GB's design.
Kimmo went into quite a bit of detail explaining to us how to build a carbon model.
I bought some Mylar from the Russian pilot to experiment with.

Yes, as a national competition, not as official World Championship category.

When so many top pilots from all over the world are available, it would be a shame not to show the spectators some AeroMusicals.

Unfortunately I don't have videos of all top ten pilots, at least not yet. I will video the top ten pilots during their F3P-AF rounds however.
