UK FPV Spec Wing

Inspired by the NEFPV and CO guys over on FPVLAB, some of us from the UK FPV Thread have decided to build our own spec wings for formation flying and racing at meets. Anybody is welcome to build one of these, the more the merrier!

Airframe: Flyingwings Raven (no modifications to airfoil)
Lamination: Optional (leading edge protection recommended)
Motor: Included motor
ESC: Included ESC
Propeller: Included prop (APC 6x4)
Battery: Max 30C 1300mAh
Servos: Any servos (7.5-9g recommended)
Flight controller/stabiliser: Not allowed
Camera: Any camera
OSD: Optional
VTx: Any frequency (no max power for time being)
Radio control: Any frequency
LEDs: Recommended

Thanks to Rob from Flyingwings for doing a deal on the wings. Here's a clip of two Ravens flying in formation taken from the website:

Added you both, has anyone got recommendations for servos? I've only used the cheapo Hobbyking ones but two in four on my AXN were stripped..

Who else fancies taking one for the team and putting a mobius on theirs?

I use Turnigy MG90S in my SkyFun and TekSumo - very durable being MG, but they are a little heavier at 13.4g (supposedly).

I've got a möbius I can put on. It won't hold a charge so I'll need to figure out how to power it, but should be fine....

I guess a few grams doesn't make an awful lot of difference, probably better they were bombproof but a bit heavier

Apparently they're fairly straight forward to swap

Unfortunately it's not the battery I've replaced it already. There is some sort of parasitic drain which means I can charge the battery one day, not use it and it will be flat the next day.
I have a 2nd one and it is fine, can leave it for weeks and it will retain its charge.
I'll just wire it to a 5v bec and I'm sure it will be fine.....

I'm guessing any reflashing of ESC's or upgrading bearings in the motor is against the rules?
Other than laminating the leading edge can we also install carbon on the elevon to reducing warping in the heat as this sounds like a must do mod?

Although it would be hard to check that no one has changed stuff like that, guys we have to trust people won't.
My falcon had foam elevons and was fine. I say we keep it simple and not add carbon. If we start to have problems it's something that we can easily add later

Agree with brucey tbh, completely stock would be the best - less to spend and tinker, and more flying .
