Help!
Motor / Prop recommendation for e-Bird of Time Conversion

Looking for recommendations on what motor/prop to use on a BoT e-Conversion.

Thinking that an e-BoT with spoilers would make for a good addition to the fleet.

Likely would go with the ARF and mod as needed. Spoilers should be easy to add. Not sure of what motor/prop and spinner combo to use.

I would like a combo that will provide a "good" climb. Don't need a 90 degree climb, but don't want to have an anemic climb either!

looking for a combo that will balance the BoT well. I don't like additional weight just to get the CG!

Let me know what motor/prop combos have worked well for you!

Currently using a Turnigy 35-42 with a Aeronaut Cam 11X8 with a 20C 3000 mah 3 cell. Put both fuse servos under the canopy with a bellcrank driving the full flying stab (The ARF has you put the elevator sero in the tail)
Still had to add a few ounces of nose weight!
The motor/prop combo gives it a good climb, barley enough for 150 meter within 30 seconds. I am switching to their 35-48 motor, Aeronaut cam 12X6.5 and 45C 2650 battery in hopes I can get a better climb rate, I will report back when I fly it.

Eflite power 25 (870kv version) with a 14x8 or 14x10 on a minimum 75a ESC. Works awesome.

I used an older Rimfire 35-48-1300 with a 11 x 7 Aeronaut folder, a 2250 maH 45C 3S and a Castle ESC. Servos were in the forward part of the wing bay with bell crank setup for horizontal stab. Needed about 1 1/2 oz. of in nose to get CG. It was the same weight as the advertised for the string launch job.

add a 5000 4s 45c battery to this and it will go. I have a R2 Hobbies Gliderman 3m bird I have the above in it and a 13/7 prop the Gliderman is heavy but it will go up fast at a 70-80% angle

I am running the set up that OLYTHOM suggested. I normally range out level for 15 seconds then pull up to about 80 degrees and hit 200m in 25-27 seconds with a 14-8. 14-10 is really fast and will draw around 75 amps, the 8 pitch is around 60 amps. It has more then enough power. A 15 would be adequate but will require weight. I have modified 5 ARF Birds for club members. All have added spoilers. I modified the fuses so they would be round at the spinner location. It is a simple mod, does require a small amount of glass work.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Very helpful.

I think I will go with the eflite 25, rather than balance out with lead.

Mark, would you have any pics of the nose mods? I would be interested in some pics, and maybe a description of how it was done.

One would think that the maker of the BOT would have got an E version with flaps out on this great bird by now Just sayin LOL. I know that Esprit has this out but it would be so cool if the BOT was out like this.
