Getting back into heli, need recommendation

Looking to get into electric helis. Have flown smaller ones and last heli was a T-Rex 450. Haven't flown in about 2 years as the last flight on the 450 didn't go too well.

Looking at 500 sized and wonder if the T-Rex 500e is a good way to go. Want a smooth flying heli for sport use and not extreme 3d.

Thanks.

Tim

If you're thinking about buying another Align helicopter, I'd probably recommend the Trex 550 over the 500esp.

500E is the best deal going atm if you dont want to mess with FBL
another option is the Compass Atom 500 if you have more to spend

What I don't like about chaos is they are just another oufit that that ripped off aligns ideas. I respect the company's that make a go of ther own design. Gaui, protos, ect..then again align makes a great deal of money off of all these clones. Also clone resale is pretty low. Yes even the chaos resale is low. Look how low allspunup ended up selling his for. Best to stick to a name brand and just spend the extra dollars.

And see even less money in return on a bigger investment?

I don't know about you, but I don't buy helicopters to sell them again a month or two later.

Just make up your mind and buy the helicopters you want to have, not sell! Don't buy too many helicopters or buy them on the cheap and resale value really won't ever be an issue.

Not every helicopter will cost a grand or more.

Yeah, but most people don't buy based on resale value, but performance and parts support/availability. If it were me buying I'd look at Gaui or Align. Both have great parts support. I'd get the X7 if I didn't already have shrinking hangar space.

All the companies have been raising prices. Just the name of the game. Before I sold off my Hurricane 550 ( I wanted a bigger plane) I was going through allerc and grandrc. Parts are everywhere, you just gotta look. When I was living near San Francisco there were at least 2 brick and mortar shops that kept Gaui parts in stock. As for 500's, I might be getting a Protos soon.

+1, I have Trex fleet from 700, 600, 550 and 450 plus Gaui X5 and X2. because it's easy for me find parts for align and gaui from lhs. I am waiting for Gaui 7......
