Overview

Fearless Sport Jet Performance
The E-flite® UMX™ Habu S DF180 is a high-speed performance jet that’s sized to enjoy just about anywhere outdoors. Based on the original UMX Habu, this new ultra micro sport model delivers an unparalleled RC experience. That’s because for the first time in a jet, exclusive SAFE® technology has been built-in to give you the comfort of flight envelope protection plus the locked-in feel that a custom-tuned AS3X® system provides. In addition, Panic Recovery mode can be used anytime you run into trouble, by instantly returning the plane to level stable flight.

E-flite® UMX™ airplanes let you fly with minimal fuss. The Habu S DF180 is designed to get you in the air in the time it takes to charge a battery. And because all UMX aircraft use advanced Spektrum™ DSM2®/DSMX® 2.4GHz technology, you’ll never have to worry about interference and will enjoy the freedom of flying them with a wide variety of Spektrum transmitters available.

Engineered with SAFE™ Technology
SAFE® (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology is a revolutionary electronic flight envelope protection system. This intuitive technology enables consistently smooth flight and battles windy conditions in multiple modes with varying levels of assistance and protection including:

Beginner Mode
Pitch and roll angle limits combine with electronic self-leveling to help you keep the UMX Habu S flying smoothly.

Intermediate Mode
Natural feeling AS3X® system stability with expanded pitch and roll angle limits for a larger flight envelope that protects you from entering extreme flight conditions.

Experienced Mode
Pitch and roll limits are removed while AS3X technology delivers smooth flight and a rock-solid feel.

Panic Recovery Mode
1. Pilot loses control of the aircraft in any flight mode.
2. Pilot pushes the panic recovery button. The aircraft will return to level flight...
3. ...once the aircraft is flying straight and level, the pilot returns all other controls to their neutral position and continues a gentle climb to a safe altitude.

The Delta-V® Advantage
The installed E-flite® 28mm Delta-V® 180m ducted fan and 11750Kv brushless inrunner motor combination efficiently converts incoming air to forward thrust. Careful sculpting of the internal duct allows the Delta-V® 180m fan system to deliver optimal performance.

Advanced Spektrum™ Control
The electronics installed deliver precision control of the throttle, ailerons, elevators and rudder. Advanced Spektrum™ DSMX® 2.4GHz technology means that you’ll never have to worry about interference and will enjoy the freedom of choosing to fly with a wide variety of Spektrum transmitters available

Li-Po Power
The included rechargeable ultra micro 200mAh 2S 7.4V 25C Li-Po battery is capable of delivering 3-5 minute flight times. The included Celectra™ 2-cell Li-Po AC/DC charger can recharge the provided high-output battery in about 20-minutes.

Wow! This looks good, I have been a little hesitant to get a edf, but with the mode for beginner this looks like it needs to go on my list.

But set up for beginners ? -- I wouldn't think this would be much of a beginners plane. A competent pilot might have a ball with it, but just doubt that even with a beginners mode just can't see it being a good candidate for a beginner.

Hi,
Generally I'd tend to agree, but in this case, I think it'd actually be a pretty good second (or maybe even first) plane. First off, it's pretty slow, so there's time to react. Second, the main killer for newbies with nimble planes is that the planes roll so quickly that the pilot will overcorrect, lose orientation, and crash. The paint scheme (looks like a GP Evader, btw - cool!) of this version certainly helps, and toned down controls should help as well. Third and final: AS3X. I own the UMX MiG-15 and Habu, and that gyro stabilized stuff is número uno!! It can be windy as all heck, and the planes will just scoot along as though it was a calm spring morning... Pretty cool .

I wonder if I can just get a payroll deduction made to HH? So many great looking planes out in the past few months. The wife can't possibly object to one new plane a month, can she?

This one was the only one I pre-ordered. I have a second hand UMX MiG that I've been too scared to fly and this will be just the ticket to get into the category. Really looking forward to it, but with the weather in the northeast, it will likely be spring before it gets maidened.

Well, I guess that will give me enough time to stock up on the others on my wishlist. FW-190, Viking, UMX B-17, UMX Yak..... sigh.

This is not a beginner airplane. Its designed as a first time entry into EDFs or a step up for someone who has some 4 channel experience.

And as I understand it, the new one includes a battery and charger, which the previous version did not come with.

Dave,
What is the official ship date on these? Will there be other S jets coming down the line?
Thanks,
Andy
