the new kite had its maiden and was no problem ..its just a bigger copy of my microkite which is a superb model..
It sits at a high angle of attack on the ground so take of was instantaneous.. the elevons were only roughly set so it needed a fair few clicks of trimming to get it flying straight and level..
once trimmed it was lovely... good rolls and loops , loads of thrust gave good vertical . goes slow or fast, the rudder is strong so nice and tight yaw turns are simple...
much the same as the micro version....excellent
The blend of deep depron fuzz and fabric wings makes for a super flying model.. easier and more capable than the purely flat kites.. the rudder gives it a good advantage in tight turns and slow speed steering... and the fabric lets all the lighting colors shine through a treat..

night flight... sorry its a poor video.. my cheap cam does a bad job in the dark
visibility, orientation are no problem and it looks great at night... shame about the video..
I was having problems with my batteries, they were only giving out low power... they have been unused and poorly stored... hopefully they will improve after a few cycles..

started another small kite...
Ive started on a CF/film Pi Yak kite build at 16"... trying to save weight.. only problem is getting the CF bent to a good circle, it looks like it wont be perfectly round, more a selection of arcs...try bending some CF and you will soon see the problem.. the CF wants to bend most at the middle while the ends stay straighter
The fuzz I had previously made for a CF biplane so I just have to make the wing...
edit....... getting there...see the pic

Yeah, I got one of those from R2 Hobbies.
Have not flown it yet. Broke the control horn and it took me a few months to figure out a repair.
Mine was on sale so I could not pass it up.
My covering is not that good, I had trouble trying to keep it taught, but its not really a performance plane so I don't think it will matter too much.
I have a kitted Wild RC IFO which I haven't built yet. I may end up selling it. I don't know yet.
