Pilot RC Sbach 342 30cc build thread

I know there some other build threads on this plane out there. I just thought I would add one more as I have found that it can be just a simple lil idea from a fellow modeler that can save you time and money when strarting a new prodject. I have used some ideas from others as well as some of my own. I was over all impressed with the airframe from Pilot. There are few things that I found not to my likeing. For one the fire box should of been built just a lil bigger by maybe a half inch. or so. This would eliminate the notching of the tri stock to clear the stand-offs for the DLE 30cc. The tailwheel steering is another issue as most who have built this plane would agree. There are many ideas on how to fix that on these sites and thats how I came up with the way I finished mine. The fuel dot that is supplied from Pilot is not the greatest. Its very hard to remove once pushed in and has no backing washers.

Parts list:
Airframe: Pilot RC Sbach 342 30cc from Cheif Air Craft

To Propicts I'm flying from a paved runway. The last pic of the plane is on the actual runway at our flying field here.

Kerwin50, Yes I've had about 10 flights on her now. Maiden was last weekend and it went great no issues. Flies great! Got her up and trimmed 2 clicks of up elevator and 1 click of left aileron. Roll her over inverted level and she holds. Gonna fly it again this weekend.

Great pictures!!!
I'm starting my project this week, I've been looking for alive and updated build thread.
jhasrac1 - this is my first gas model so I appreciate if you could stay tune to this thread and help me with any issue/question that might come.
My first question is: how do you use the choke when the engine is running? Isn’t it to close to the prop?

Hey- itayavil, Yes I'll be here for any questions you might have. Are you building the Sbach too? The answer to the choke question is that its only used with the engine "not" running. I usually push the choke in and with the ignition off flip the prop about 10 times after that pull the choke open, flip on the ignition then flip the prop and it will usually fire right up.Not sure which engine you have chosen but the DLE 30 has been very easy to start. No need to be choked while running.

Here is my setup:
Sbach 342 - red/black thunderbolt schema.
DLE 30.
(5) Savox SC-1258TG
(1) Hitec HS-625MG for throttle.
Hobbico LiFeSource LiFe 6.6V 1100mAh 10C for ignition.
Hobbico LiFeSource LiFe 6.6V 3200mAh 10C for Receiver.
42% Opto Gas Engine Kill
AR7000 reciver.

I have all the setup, just missing the model itself, I should recive it today.
I'm still don't know what kind of servos extension shall I use, my options are:
Hitec, Expert or hobbyking 22AWG wires.
Thanks for your help, I will sure need it.

Sounds like a real nice set up. I used servo extentions from Troy Built Models. If you mount the reciever on top of the wing tube the lengths I used will work out perfectly. (2- elevetor 18" and 2 aileron 6").

I received my model and it's really beautiful and in a very high quality.
Can you please tell what kind of material the needle adjustment tubes are made of?
Are they carbon fiber tubes?
BTW – It's a really nice idea.

The tubes used to get to the mixture adjustment screws are made of plastic. I had a 2 ft. length of it layin around the shop. I think it was an old pushrod guide. A straw would prob do the job. I just looked it up and its the outside pushrod guide made by Sullivan. Its called semiflex gold-n-rod.
