I check with ecalc and the best setting for 1X4S-5000mah is with a 10X4 propeller. You got a mixed flight time of 13 min. If you stay in 3S and change your propeller from 12X6 to 10X4 you will increase flight time to 20 mins.

It's calculate for AUX weight of 2500g

Like Heppy ket wrote " is a good starting point, but not the final word."

I don't have this wing but I can say this -

As general rule, any 3S setup will work 4S if you take same weight motor, with 3/4 KV value (to keep final RPM the same), and batteries with 3/4 mAh capacity (to keep AUW the same).

You can keep battery mAh capacity - this means Wh and weight increase by 33%, if the air frame can handle it, all good.

Specifically for the buffalo FX-79, should handle 5000mAh 4S with no problem (from AUW perspective), and probably 10000mAh 4S too.

Anyone know of a supplier in Canada or the US that sells the main carbon spar? Can't seem to find one that is long enough.

I am almost done with my build. What is holding me up is that I am undecided whether I should glue the wings on permanently or leave it removable.

What has everyone else decided on?

Interesting thought.
10mm OD, 8.2mm ID (but 8.0 should also work), ~32" L. I'll have to go measure one. Thanks.

Hi,

I think this setup can work with 4s, but you have to use 11*5 or 10*6 prop.

But i think, the best choise the 3s

I put in a 60amp ESC, kept the stock motor and run a 10X5 prop. It flies OK but I'd like a little more push. I may up that to 10X6 or even 10X8. I'm not using this plane for FPV but kept a recording FPV camera on for aerial videos.

Hello,
Does anyone have a good working/stable Mission Planner Pixhawk setting file for the FX-79?
