I am thinking about joining

I am thinking about joining this club as it is close to my home. I have a question. I was out to the field the other day and noticed a large cell tower in close proximity. Has anyone had any issues with signal interruption? I am using all Spektrum gear, RX and TX. Reason I ask is that i have been flying at a local school that has the same type towers, and I have had some issues with loss of signal/aircraft.

Thanks for your replies.

Thank you for your interest in Hawk Field. It really is a great place to enjoy the hobby. The phone tower has revealed the expiration dates of some airplanes in the past. These were mostly with older, DSM2 AR-6200 receivers. Interestingly, the AR-61xx style receivers didn't have a problem. I fly all Spektrum and haven't had a radio hit in quite a long time. Also, the location of the tower is far enough away from the runway, that it shouldn't be an issue for a park-flyer sized airplane.

Even recently, guys have buzzed the tower, and even misjudged their distance and have hit the tower without having radio interference being a factor.

Come out to the field this weekend and give it a test-fly and see.

Thanks Darren for the kind offer, if the weather holds out I will take you up on that offer. What time are the gates open? Who would I need to check in with?

According to the forcast, tomorrow morning looks nice before lunch, then the fun level turns down a bit. Sunday is a bit breezy too.

I'll be happy to meet you tomorrow morning if you'd like.
