Hey guys, I'm back!
Did you know a Visionaire can counter the attacks by an aggressive falcon? I didn't have the vertical climb advantage or the speed advantage, but I could maneuver out of its way and get behind it to send a message. Fortunately it flew off without trying to take it down, but man that bugger was vicious! It made a few attempts to take it down but it failed. I cut the power when it got too close for its safety.
Hopefully none of you guys will have a hostile encounter with our feathered friends out there.
Cheers

Falcon has nowhere near enough power to take down a VA. I'msure it was scary but there was no danger.

There's a vid in youtube of an owl that grabbed an ultramicro in midair, flew off to land in a tre, poked at the plane for a moment and then dropped it. LOL!

My UM Champ took a falcon hit from the 6. It came over my shoulder and all I saw was a blur. This was in a strong headwind an I was hanging in midair in harrier. He didn't get a good talon hold, so flew out an back and tried again and I DODGED and he MISSED. He flew away and I saw him at the far end of the field so I thought he'd given up. But he came back and tried again from behind my shoulder but this time I SAW it and DODGED and he MISSED. He didn't try again.

I've retired that airframe and pulled out the guts but with the talon marks on it I'll keep it forever.

I was told of a midair impact at my field between a large gasser and a turkey vulture - there were -no- survivors.

There are hawks that nest in trees only 100 from our runway but they almost never fly over the field and apparently would rather hunt in other directions.

The turkey vultures are fun to go fly with with Slow Stick when the thermals are pulling up from the field and they swarm around.

^I can't top either of those, but my wife's aunt had her wig pulled off her head by a red tail hawk when she was in her garden. The hawk flew with the wig to it's nest in a nearby tree. The aunt was rather taken aback. After that, she always wears a baseball cap in the yard.

Actually, a year later the tree was cut down and the wig was in the nest.
As you might imagine, the wig was far beyond cleaning.

@jbarchuk, it wasn't even remotely scary at all. Just annoying. You think birds-of-prey would know by now what is edible and thus a target and what's not. I guess it takes a few wrecked model aircraft for them to realize that they aren't edible. Go figure.
And.... Back to the Visionaire
I'm tempted to mount a video camera to the canopy of the V-Aire but I feel it'd get too sickening to watch after the first 30 seconds. But then again, what's the worst that could happen?

The worst would be that the camera would fall off and be lost forever.

The second worst would be some mild nausea from watching 31 seconds of video.

The first time I did video was with an 808 keychain camera I packing-taped to the nose of my Sky Surfer. It stayed on. I say go for it!
