Can a Lipo "burn" without air around it?
Yes

I don't expect a Kleenex to blow the lid off the container. A lipo might very well do that.

I would bet a lipo could be 'encouraged' to go off underwater for that matter.

Airlines reject Lipo's

This article from the AP was in my local paper, but I found it here, see link below. Our US air carriers are rejecting some of the cargo of Lipo batteries. From what I get from this article is the bulk transport of large quantities. This goes to the potential dangers of the batteries. I see a price hike in our future for batteries?

Anyway just a FYI.

The problem with that is I wasn't charging or performing heavy duty discharging. I was tuning the Naza via USB connection like I've done many times before.

The point of the test was to demonstrate how little O2 is in a small container. The Kleenex only partially burns leaving a good amount not burned, but yet, a Lipo can burn for a minute or more in an ammo can. So if not from air, where is the O2 coming from if not from the lipo chemicals themselves. The articles attached to the post explain where the O2 is coming from. For one thing, think LiCoO2.
