Announcing the USA F3K Tour
I am pleased to announce the formation of the USA F3K Tour.
The intention is to include as many big contests as we can to count for points throughout the year. The Dick Barker Cup, a perpetual trophy, will be awarded to the top USA F3K Tour pilot at the end of the season. The final contest in the tour will be the East Coast Hand Launch Glider Festival in Wilson, NC. Scores will be totaled and the inaugural Dick Barker Cup will be presented October 9, 2011
There will be a website with updates after each qualified contest.
USA F3K Tour points can be earned in any qualifying contest.
No registration required, you will be automatically signed up when you compete.
All 2-day contests with 20 or more starting pilots will be included.
All included contests must be AMA sanctioned and follow F3K rules.
Only the best 4 scores from each pilot will be counted towards the final tour standings.
In the case of a tie 5 scores will be used.
Only preliminary round scores will be considered, no fly-off scores.
Scores will be your percentage of the winners score with first place getting 100 points.
Contest directors of all qualified contests will be asked to forward final scores to the USA F3K Tour webmaster.
Because the USA F3K Tour finals are at the ECHLGF in October any qualified contests after that event will be counted towards next year. The 2011 USA F3K tour has already started!

I plan on making the official announcement for the 4th annual San Felasco Hand Launch Glider Festival (Feb 18, 19, 20th, 2011) next week, just have a few things to wrap up with the Park Manager.
Florida in February, you guys up north start thinking about it... I can guarantee lift.
Mark your calendars!

What a great notion on the trophy!
As I mentioned in my earlier thread, count me in for a donation for the cost of the trophy.

The contests included in the tour will be decided by attendance. I can tell you the contests that had more than 20 pilots last year were:
San Felasco, FL
Blue Skies in Colorado had 19
Hopefully this will boost attendance in a couple of other contests so they will be included!

The 2010 Blue Skies over Arizona..next weekend, is an AMA sanctioned 2 day contest that should have more then twenty pilots...so does this contest count??

will you be counting the prelim scores including throw-outs or not? i vote to keep the throw-outs. this will probably reduce the likelihood of a tie. this is sweet!! i love this DLG community!!
