GWS Beaver discontinued???

Say it isnt so........... Just pulled this from the GWS dealer site....

Looks like it might be all over for the old beaver.

Part Number Parts Category / Description Status1 Cat. MSRP basket
1. GW/DHC2-EPS150 Airplane Kits [Electric] [Discontinued] A view
[842142016668] DHC2 BEAVER WITH EPS-150C

2. GW/DHC2-EPS350 Airplane Kits [Electric] [Discontinued] A view
[842142002548] DHC2 BEAVER WITH EPS-350C

3. GWAEO016 Airplane Kits [Electric] [Discontinued] A view
[842142100138] DHC2 Beaver NPS (with Landing Gear; w/o Power System) White

4. GWDHC2O Airplane Kits [EPO] Back Order , call
[842142109094] DHC2 NPS-EPO White

And with nearly 7 years gone by since they announced a bigger better beaver... which has never been produced it looks like the days of GWS producing a beaver might be over.... sad day indeed.

They did light up the Beaver EPO kit at least, though it is back order now. Probably the older EPS kits are being discontinued.

Don't know if this is any consolation. I know I'd like one of these:

Until you try and buy one, in which case all three options they're showing will come up with this:

"......not currently available. Please contact us for availability of this item."

GWS would like us to believe they are continuing in business but that they're finding trading conditions difficult. Will someone explain to me in simple words how not having stock at your main US outlet will help you deal with difficult trading conditions?

Just checked and you are correct. That is kind of stupid to say they have them until you try to order.

You can beat the system though. I went through the list of spare parts for the Beaver and they are in stock. You can build an NPS by parting it out for about $30.00. I don't know how long the parts will last but it is an alternative if someone really wanted to have one of the last ones ever.

Sorry guys. Didn't realize there was that big of a following. Feel like a GWS Beaver blasphemer. Sorry for the loss. I just recently saw that KMP Beaver and it looked so nice...

Slight post resurrection

I have the new KMP foamie beaver... havent flown it yet. Needs some work to put it in the air and a bit more to make it more scale-ish. They left off the tail cone so they wouldnt have to split the elevator easy to fix though. Flaps are functional and it looks pretty darn good! Scale float struts are a very nice touch!

And waiting and waiting and................

As an aside.... I cant believe GWS is still in business. I don't see it as viable in the current RC market without a complete overhaul of the business and product line.

Giving credit to GWS, they did enable many new comers to RC with a very reasonable $ outlay.
Too bad they have shot themselves in the foot.

... and some companies don't always need to change. If they have sold so many Beavers, there is no reason not to keep supplying it, and certainly supplying parts. My buddy on is on his 2nd Beaver, and his 5th set of wings, and that is exactly how it should be. It is a great model, best beginners "scale" model, and works just fine. Why change it???
