Big Cubs?

I'm currently looking for a replacement for my Austars Aghusky 110" and was wondering what big Cubs are available in ARTF form. It needs to be between 110" and 120" span, with flaps and built rugged enough for aerotowing, so I guess a Supercub of some type is probably what it's going to be. I've seen those by The World Models, but are there any others out there that I should be looking at? I'll also consider alternative types and have a Pilatus Turboporter already on my shortlist.

Thanks - I've just looked at that and added it to my shortlist. It's a bit spendy though!

I'm reviewing one now, its a very nice kit, I hope to fly it this weekend. The the EP installation in clearly outlined in its own section on the manual.

Hangar 9/E-Flite stuff is a little pricey but for the most part you don't have to fool with fixing stuff or replacing hardware.

barracuda - interesting - where will your review appear?

OzparkPilot - I need to fit it in my car to take it to the field, I don't want to fly to the field IN it! Nice though!

Fly RC magazine.
The float kit just got here so I'll review the plane, then do an article on converting it to floats.

Thanks - I'll keep an eye open for that magazine.

Gave up trying to find a decent-sized Cub and have now ordered a Topmodel 3.2m Pilatus Turboporter - seems to be a firm favourite with the aerotowing guys, so we'll see how it flies with lots of Watts!

'cuda - Glad that my choice meets your approval! Please let me know your thoughts about how the Turboporter lands - I need to know if I'll be able to test fly it at my club strip. I'll certainly try and get some video shot of it when it's finally flying, but it might be a while!

The flaps make it pretty easy to get in and out of tight places. I thought it was pretty easy to fly and land.

Thanks - looks really nice! What version is that? If I manage to get it airborne from my club strip, I guess I'll just have to land it back there!

I am a sucker for the H9 1/4 scale Cubs (I have 2)

Big, but small enough to transport in my A4 sedan. With a Power 160, you can tow some pretty big stuff...

@Cuda~ I look forward to your review of the new Super Cub. It is a great ship; one day I will trade up one of my J-3's for the Super.

I have an AeroWorks Sport cub, 110 inch, using a Rimfire 50cc, 12S config with Castle Ice HV120, I am using a smallish 18X8 Wooden Xoar prop. Another alternative to consider. Good looking and good flying airplane. I set my timer for 10 min and have flown it for 15 when being gentle with the throttle. With good batteries and at full throttle the short field capabilities are fun. Not very scale, but FUN

Good Luck with your search.

Cheers
