I just tested this gps and it seems to work fine.
great deal for $25 plus $7.85 shipping!

you only need three wires, 3.3v, gnd, and data (correct me if im wrong!)

I think need four wires 3.3v, gnd, RX and TX

Yes I know it, but my question is VSYN OUT connected to Int1 and SYN OUT connected to Int0 ? or may be reversed ?

Ciao

Hi carlonb, nice to meet you again. I developed a new LM 1881 shield for Arduino pro mini, instead of Arduino2009. Please take a look at the zioArdioniOSD open project:

http://code.google.com/p/zioarduinoosd/

I hope it will be usefull.
Gtz, Enrico.

GPS RX is only needed if you send commands from Arduino to configure the GPS (To set NMEA-strings, baud-rate and update-rate). As default the software will send the commands needed to configure the MTK GPS, but this can just be replaced if you use another GPS.

I would expect most GPS'es to work "out of the box", but I have only tested 1-2 GPS and a simulator. I recommend only to use GGA and RMC NMEA strings.

You can just change it to match your wiring here:

if (controller == 1) {
attachInterrupt(0,detectline,FALLING);
attachInterrupt(1,detectframe,RISING);

As default Int0 is new line and Int1 is new frame.

Yes Dennis, all clear, but is Int0 connected to SYN OUT of LM1881 ?
Is Int1 connected to VSYN OUT of LM1881 ?
In other words, is SYN OUT of LM1881 line synchro ?
Is VSYN OUT frame synchro ?

I do not know wich one of SYN output of LM1881 is Line detector or Frame detector ?

Thanks again, Carlo

Hi Carlo
I guess this is what you ask for? Output-names taken from LM1881 data-sheet:
http://www.national.com/ds/LM/LM1881.pdf

Composite sync output -> Int0

Vertical sync output - > Int1

Hi everybody, here is the zioArduinoOSD direct link:
http://code.google.com/p/zioarduinoosd/downloads/list
(zio is the italian for "uncle").
Sorry, at the moment notes has been wrote in italian language only. If the zioArduino project will take off, i'll very glad to join people and make a traslation.

Gtz, Enrico.

The software will not fit the Arduino Mini due to insufficient memory space. The EM-411 GPS works just fine on the serial port. I cut the wires of the interface cable of the EM-411 and soldered a 4-pin header connector to it.

Meanwhile working on some other project(s) like IC interfacing and inter-communication between multiple Arduinos so OSD, AUV/RTH and other "controllers" can interact with eachother.

I am also working on integrating I2C communications, maybe we can collaborate.

I noticed a couple of SimpleOSD OPEN's have been sold. Anyone who have tried one so far?

My order has been sitting in the Oslo letter sorting facility since yesterday. Hopefully it will find its way due west to Bergen by Saturday for me to test over the weekend.

I hate the Norwegian state postal service sometimes - its always so slow when one is waiting for that exciting package
