This is exciting, can't wait to hear some reports on it
Ron, won't be able to afford going on another trip back to Vancouver in such a short time... the airfare costs about a month of my salary
I was having my fingers crossed for an April trial, but I know it is too soon, just dreaming! I will be following the trial news and reports though!

Although Dave's offer is tempting...

I understand completely, Thomas. Of course, if anything changes, e.g. you win a lottery <g>, we'd love to see you

Anyone else thinking about attending? Let us know!

If I win the lottery I'll move back to Vancouver for good

Is anyone else planning on flying the April SASS contest down in Seattle?

To early to tell yet Thomas. If I get the time off I will be there.
Hope to see you there.

So do we have a confirmed date yet? The sailplane chairman asked me to give him the details as soon as they're available, probably so that he can put them in the next issue of the MAAC mag.

No confirmed date quite yet... I was speaking with Arend this weekend and he has a conflict on the weekend of September 28/29. Is the previous weekend doable, though perhaps not ideal?

Every date is "doable", just depends on how badly you want to fly in the contest.

In this case moving it to the previous weekend would put it in direct conflict with our final F2D contest for the year which we usually CD, so decisions would have to be made.

There are only so many weekends in the flying season (and there are non flying things that can interfere ). So it will likely be impossible to find a date that will be perfect for everyone.

Well, that's an interesting point, actually. Our flying season is probably a bit longer than yours - perhaps we should consider moving in to October? Weather here doesn't tend to deteriorate until November... The only 'local' event that I can think of that might interfere is the FSF in Visalia (oh, and Thanksgiving...).

Opinions on the second weekend in October, everyone?

Ron has a perfect point. I have really been thinking about October and just how many wonderful weekends we are missing for potential contest days in BC...such a shame ...all that sun - lift scenery ...and a microbrewery just 15 mins away from the field!

October would be fine, providing the weather is predictable.

Here it is - rarely is the weather any good for flying in October

For the last 4 years the first two weeks in october have been perfect for flying. We have also on occasion had solid sun and warmth right into November 15th.

Its spring in BC that can throw a monkey wrench into your contest plans...one time in April when we do our TD tune up we had three inches of snow a day before the contest...more snow than we had all winter long that year...

+1 for the October date
Here, most club events are over by then, so a mouthfull of the hair
of the DLG dog in October sounds pretty good...

Looks like support for hosting the Trials in October is building. Accordingly, I propose that we host the Trials on October 13th and 14th, 2012. If there are no vehement objections, I can let Simon know about our proposal as early as tomorrow...

Handlaunch contest in Mission in April?

Just wondering if there is any interest in having a hand launch contest in Mission in April. Thomas will be in town and is game to do some flying. The proposed dates are either the 21st or the 28th. Anyone interested? Let me know which date you prefer.
