Help!
I only get black and white on my FPV cam

So.. i just got my whole FPV setup sorted out, and i powered the whole thing up to see how it would look, and i seem to be only getting a black and white picture from my cam. this is the camera that i have: 1/3-inch SONY CCD Video Camera (PAL). Other than the black and white problem, the video quality is very good and i have no static.. any suggestions?

Many cameras will go to black and white in low light conditions. If you have it in a bright room, is it still black and white? Also, there may be configuration options of how low the light should be before switching to black and white mode.

(also, why PAL?. Most USA monitors will be NTSC. although that has nothing to do with color vs. b&w.. )

Alright i'll see what i can do.

(Well NTSC was out of stock, though i have heard that PAL will give you slightly better video, where NTSC gives you a faster FPS of around 60FPS)

Check your connections @ the camera as well. I have one camera that when wiggled it will go to black/white or have static. Don't worry I'm gonna solder a servo lead on that one

Well it looks like my voltage on my camera was 11.8 while testing. Also, I took it outside today where it was well lit, and it was still B/W. And I checked my connections and tried to wiggle them and they seem to be solid.

I tried lowering up my camera first then my VTX, and vise versa. Still B/W. I'm beginning to wonder if I just got a bad camera..

If you have a PAL camera and NTSC display you will only get B&W and you may have the video cutoff at the bottom. You just can't mix and match this stuff.

Not really, and even if there were you would be losing resolution, increasing latency, and probably getting close to the cost of just replacing it. Get a NTSC camera or PAL display.

Same problem here...
Have a 8.8 g micro camera from FPVHobby that shows everything in Grey scale !

Followed the advice of other on this thread (NTSC/PAL, Power, etc), but it does not resolve the problem... I guess will live and learn !

Try powering up fpv stuff at different times

Power stuff up at opposite than you normally do

My lawmate pvr as example acts funny unless I power it up first
I get bw if powered up last as example

Some video tx need few or more
Power up to work

It's funny but that fox video tx is funny as well
As to get video with some fox units I need to re power video rx and video tx

If you get bw make sure lighting is well around camera
So no auto detect for bw

If problem persists
Un power everything and re power over and over again in different combos

Try different video sources for seeing video out

Look at video at googles and also tv screen

Many times my pvr record in bw but googles color
Because I not power up pvr very first
