Try DevCAD LE. You can download a trial version here: http://www.devcad.com/eng/default.htm and if you like it, you can buy the full featured version for 25 euros ($35). Stefano Durano (the designer) offers excellent support. There's a bunch of other programs available as well, including CAM, 3D CAD and airfoil drafting. Steve |

It's e machine shop 4 me!
I use the download from: http://www.emachineshop.com/
It is free, saves files as dxf which needs a little editing to get it into V carve Pro which I use to generate G code for my mach 3 controlled router. It has easy trim functions which I couldn't find in the program I bought-Design Cad 20. I tried Dev Cad too, with poor success. Try e machine shop, you pay nothing! |

Dassault Systems offers a free CAD system very similar to AutoCAD. I have only used it a little but it seems pretty powerful. Very good documentation and they even have a YouTube channel for training tutorials.

Cocreate is good and free for personal edition
http://www.ptc.com/offers/tryout/pe3.htm will lead you to co create which I fing meets all my needs and feeds STL files to freemill (also free) for really good gcode files
