Do you need to have a Tx with "modes" to use this Rx?

No, the "modes" are enacted by using a switch channel like Gear.

Once you get the gains set right it can make a big difference. For example, it made my Flyzone Corsair fun to fly, before AS3X it was just too stressful to fly...it was a chore.

It is a little tricky, but worth the effort.

What plane?

If I can help with questions let me know.

software for 636 and as3x

I bought one of these figuring I could use it with my pc or android tablet.
When I went to download the software I found out that it is not availbable
as yet for either of these devices. No problem I thought because I had bought
an Itouch for use with my t1000 telemetry module a couple yrs ago. Then I
found out that you have to have a later hardware version of the itouch than I had.
Luckily my wife had a newer itouch and I was able to use it.
If you are thinking of buying one and you have an android or pc then you might
want to wait till the software is available. Also I think horizon should make this
knowledge available . You can't download the software til you have the device and
you can't find out that the pc and android software is not available until you try
to download it.
Having said all that. I have it up and working and it is a very nice package.
The interface is very easy once you play with it awhile. I have not flown the bird
yet as the michigan weather sux lately.

Been through 5 pages of this thread, but have a question that may have been answered already.
Got the Rx used and reset it to factory default (I hope), does this reset the sensor control direction as well as the gain? I'm not seeing any movement in the controls when I try to check the sensor direction. All I've seen move is a bit of gittering in the elevator. I stand with those of you here that found the manual very confusing!
Help please and thanks!
