2015 Budget to get the Team to the Netherlands:

I volunteered to be the fund raiser this cycle. Let me tell you what an eye opener it has been.

It makes my knees knock, to be honest, it is very intimidating to be responsible for raising enough money to get the team to Europe.

Our Team Manager, Glauco Lago came up with a rough budget. I had not idea it cost so much especially considering that AMA has significantly cut their team funding a few years ago.

Here is what we are up against:

WC Entry fees: $2,000
WC Banquet: $120
Lunch $10 x 7 person x 12 day = $840
Batteries $30 x 6 = $180
Hotel $70 x 4 rooms x 12 days = $3,360
Cars 2 vans x $70 x 12 days = $1,680
Total Euros $8,180 = $10,500 USD

Airline Tickets $10,000
Baggage fees $2,000
Lines & equip $2,500

Total $25,000.

$70/night for a hotel is not living high on the hog I might add:-)

We do get $5,000 from AMA and we did have some money left in the account from the last team but I would like to leave the same amount, preferably more for the next team, if at all possible. I have learned each team needs some "seed" money to pay for the World Champion entry fees etc. since they ask for them months in advance.

I have also found out the F3K Team needs around $32,000 and the F3J Team more that twice that, so as teams go, the F3B Team is one of the least expensive teams to get to the WC......... but it still is an intimidating amount of money to raise.

While the garments are cool and I always have liked supporting the teams by purchasing them, and will continue to do so, it does not raise much capital for the team, to be honest. The jackets are the only exception since historically they have sold for $500.

It is the raffles that generate the major funding for the teams. Since the vendors donate the items to be raffled, it generates 100% profit for the teams.

I know most everyone knows this, but to be honest, I never really thought much about how things actually get funded.

We need all of your support, as in the past, to get enough money raised so our Team can represent the USA in the Netherlands.

Sincerely,

Your humble, bruised knee, volunteer fund raiser,

Dave

Freestyler to be raffled off to some lucky pilot..........

Yes, you read that correctly:-)

I am thrilled to announce we are raffling off a Freestyler, identical to what the team is flying. The entire team is flying Freestylers, 12 all total I believe. This sailplane will be here by the time we have the raffle.

The new Freestyler will have LDS and be the new lighter and stronger CarboLine layup with Spread Tow and Disser Tails.

TUD, the producers of the Freestylers, have given the F3B Team some amazing support by working with us on getting this airframe at a reduced cost.

I personally want to thank Franz Demmler, Martin Herrig and Dr. Andreas Herrig of TUD for their outstanding and continued support to the F3B and F3F communities here in the USA!

You can check out their website: (English and German - some things only viewable in the German section)

Mr. Kite donated 10 "Chutes" to the Raffle:

Mr. Kite has been unwavering in his support to the USA F3B Team over the years.

Craig Christensen once again, has donated to this year's F3B Raffle. He has donated 10 Underdog Chutes. If you are not familiar with Craig's chutes these are THE preferred chute. They are hand made by Craig in Minnesota. He is also a sailplane pilot. Craig started flying when he was very young. He is the real deal and a great guy and such a long time supporter of F3B.

Many years ago, Kyle Paulson and David Klein asked Craig if he would make up some custom prototype chutes to their specs for the team. Craig was more than happy to and after a few design refinements, these ended up being today's Underdog Chutes.

Craig, we can't thank you enough for your continued support.

I only use your Underdog Chutes!

Craig's website: http://www.4mrkite.com/Chutes.html

Check out this video of Kyle at his F3B Clinic talking about Mr. Kite's Underdog Chutes....

Update: Mr. Kite has donated 10 Chutes, winners choice of a "Super Chute" or an "Underdog Chute". The "Super Chute" is 16 inches (parachute style) and the "Underdog F3B Chute" is 10 inches in diameter.
Plus you get to pick your colors:-)

Hi Andres,

Thank you for your support of the Team!

Tim Traver will have the "cart" working soon on the team web site and will announce here when it is up and running. I know he is working out things with PayPal so it should be soon. He will also update the site to 2015.

It was great to finally meet you and everyone else from Chile! Your group sure has a good time! Hopefully you will all come back again, maybe we will have the power back on in the Red Lion Hotel by then:-)

I was glad to hear you got your Ober winch back:-)

Dave

The Team needs $25,000 for travel to the Netherlands:

The Team really needs your financial support!

I had not idea when I took on the role of "Fund Raiser" how much the team (as well as all other teams) need to raise for travel expenses.

Raising $25,000 is a daunting task to say the least!

Since PayPal has a major problem with the word "Raffle", we are using the term "Stickers" from this day forward.

If you are nice enough to buy some "Raffle Tickets", please use the word "Stickers" on any PayPal correspondence. When we refer to "Stickers" just substitute the word "Raffle Tickets" in your mind.

Thank you in advance for your support!!!
