People are doing crazy things with the SS these days...so ya never know what kind of strange franken-surfer will come along.

Looks like a good motor, I would be curious to hear how it does.

I do like the idea of a portable Margarita blender...

Haha, thanks. I use zip-ties with the nubs cut off and glued to the taped fuse bottom as skids. Works well but needs to be replaced after 20 or so flights.

what motor/prop are you using?

After replacing my defective 5.8GHz Tx, This sunday I was able to fly for first time this plane in FPV mode! (3rd fllight) and even landed googles-on!

Wow, this is such an amazing feeling...
It's going to become a nice addiction!

careful, i tried a bigger prop on my easystar (with ailerons of course) and the results have been "interesting", in that it is unable to turn left because of all the motor torque.
then again, i am using a 9x5 prop on a 680 watt motor that i originally put in my funcub... no idea of the thrust, but draws 55 amps at 12 volts... and it still won't climb vertical (not exactly a light plane =P )

I went ahead and ordered 3 different motors to try. Exceed Rocket 2215.
1500kv, 1700kv and a 1950kv. I'll try the 1950kv 1st. They have test numbers posted with a 6X4 prop....showing 265 watts @ 22 amps.

Thanks! BP hobbies 2212-6 (2200kv), 30A ESC, with a 6x5 APC prop. About 45mph on a flat WOT run, just about 3lbs AUW with GoPro. Not very good climb, but good for down-low flying.

You should ask this in the primary Bixler/SS thread. I prefer Welders, Goop, and regular CA on EPO planes like the SS.

Pretty awesome feeling isn't it! I'm brand new to both RC flying and FPV, but I personally found flying FPV a lot easier. For me, it was easier to correct mistakes before they happened. Starting to bank the wrong way? Easy to apply corrective measures since I'm looking through the plane's eyes, rather than trying to figure out orientation on the ground.

I thought landing was a lot easier too. Just bring it in low and slow. Although I found that it is easy to misjudge how much runway you have left while coming in for an FPV landing...almost skidded into a tree

Aaah, ya know...

I started with a wrong FPV setup and lost a plane with everything inside.
Now I'm doing it from lesson 1, step by step and everything is easier!

I thought landing would be troubling but the bixler has proven easy to bring back.

I aim to fly an EDF90 L-39 Albatross with FPV, but still I have lots to learn before that!
