A wing can generate lift with the wing moving in any direction as long as it has air moving over its surface. That means during climbing, diving, doing a loop or flying in level flight.

Up is the direction of the portion of lift resisting gravity.

Lift is about 90 degrees from the relative wind angle which can be above or below the horizon. Some portion of lift may point up as well as other directions. The portion of lift that pulls the orni forward is called thrust.

Look at that! Your son is the best dancer out of the two. He has more precision,creativity and authority. If he keeps that up, he will be in Hamasaki's, Yuna Ito's or Chemistry's videos.
