Vintage Cirrus 700 Series Radio

I don't want to throw this out so I'm looking for a new home for this old radio. Cirrus 700 Series Sport 4, originally purchased in January 1977 for $189.99 at Hobby Shack (now HobbyPeople), 72.400 MHz. Comes complete with 4 channel radio, 4 servos, and all accessories as originally purchased. Cost of shipping would be actual amount.

This really shouldn't be used to fly a plane. Not legal I believe and very old. I had one way back when and was a good radio but I'd still not trust it today. I remember getting hits back in those days on a regular basis.

Thanks johnbyrne, I should have mentioned the same. I believe these older radios used a wider frequency band width, so using this old radio in today's environment would cause interference with more channels that just the one you're on. I'm not sure when the FCC tightened up these channels, but as you said, it wouldn't be legal to use today and could be dangerous as well. But it would look great on the mantel

I like it

I want it, I like it looks like my Aerosport 4 channel (1977) with the same CR-742 receiver, charger and servos. Could you send it to miami for me?

Thankyou

I didn't know that about the radio frequencies. Thanks for the heads up. As I don't need a mantle piece, please disregard my request.

Thanks!

With respect to this radio, I loved my old Cirrus radio. My understanding is that it was manufactured by Futaba for Hobby Shack. I still have mine in a box somewhere probably and I bet it would still work if I put new batteries in it. There is one thing to note about it, the sticks were / are closed gimbal so while good they are not as smooth as new radios of today. Not bad but not as good. Plus, the old pots in them can get "dirty" so if you are thinking about getting it to convert to say 2.4 it probaby could be done but there may be better radios out there to work with. Still, if I remember right this is from back in the days when they used metal cases for the TX so maybe it wouldn't be bad. If I were looking for an old radio to convert I'd look at some of the old Futaba radios that had the gold metal cases and the open gimbal sticks. Those were actually very nice feeling radios and there should still be some floating around given how many were sold.

Wow, I didn't expect to stir up so many memories of our earlier years in this hobby, thank you all for your great comments and support. As for those of you that expressed an interest in receiving it, I wish I could send one to each of you, but since mwilliwood66 was the first to ask for it, he will be getting it. If for some reason he changes his mind, then I'll go to the next one down.
