that 160 MPH Stinger is running on a 70mm fan. I believe it's the E-Flite fan. if you want a fast setup, you gotta draw large Amps, resulting in short flights. 65C+ packs are a must. I would be using a 100 Amp ESC with that setup too.

not calling the guy a lier, but that Stinger didn't look anything close to 160 MPH, but looks can be deceiving. if I didn't know any better, I would have said it was closer to 160 KPH, which is closer to 100 MPH. doppler would prove or disprove that video.

Hey guys, I've had my Stinger for a while now (about 20 or so flights). I've been running 4S with a 40A esc and 30C 1800-2200 packs. It has been really moving! Today during a nice routine I smoked the stock motor. Guess it wasn't rated for the 4S!!!! Any suggestions for a new motor? Want to run the same setup if I can. I was pulling less than 40 Amps.

I have not used it with the stock fan, but the fan/motor combo that Don sold me (balanced), is nothing more special than the one you have. not belittling Dons fan by any means............just trying to point out that it's a regular, plastic type fan, just like yours. he just puts them together and balances them silky smooth. his motor with your fan will be just fine, as long as yours is balanced. you could always send him your fan and he can put it together, balance it and send it back. or, do what I did and buy one of his used units. I paid a little more than $40 for the fan, motor and ESC, shipped to my door. I will recommend his products to anyone. super nice guy and an awesome product that he stands behind. you can't beat it for the money.

I've never run mine on 3S. always 4S and it rocks. the Stinger is 100+MPH, depending on wind conditions. never actually measured it, but it's easily in that range.

no. it's a 45 Amp ESC from Don. the stock ESC will burn up in the first run or two.

Thanks, I'll give him a call. Just checked on Ebay and there is a unit on there for $46 shipped but no ESC. Sounds like Don's is the way to go. Wish I had a video of the "flame out". Pretty impressive puff of smoke. Wasn't sure what fried at first but when I could fly I figured motor! Such is the world of lipo sucking EDFs!
