LightRC.com NEW RebelZ 35"

LightRC has a reputation for foamies that don't fly like floppy foamies and the new line of 35" span foamies takes that to a new level!

The 35" Sbach was the first in the series. It came out about a year ago. I was able to get a turn on the sticks at a fly in and was blown away! It flew with the precision and hard snaps and tumbles of a large balsa model, yet stoll very slow and docile like any other EPP foamy.

Just a couple months ago Sam was finally happy ebough with his 34" Cap and 35" RebelZ to start cutting the kits!

These have been successful enough to bring a line of 32" "lite" for indoor season!

I'll be doing a build thread on both but I'll start with the 35" 10-12oz RebelZ

These are not designed to float and flop around slowly by like a butterfly on helium. These are designed for high energy 3D! Yet not be overly complicated or so stiff it can't take a hit or smack like a good foamy should!

For less than $40 you get a top notch EPP kit with full Carbon Fiber and hardware package.
For $16 more you can choose from 7 different color schemes on top and bottom!

No big Manuel. Only 3 pages of instructions on PDF on its web page.

So let's get to it!

Weight of all components 9.9oz minus glue

I'll be useing all thin CA and a little hot glue.

But use what you wish with epp. Sometimes I use all hot glue or all welders or quick grip. Today I used all thin CA because all the joints fit togather so well I just wicked in a little ca on each joint and mist with kicker.

Step one is to glue the two tail peices then glue the wings to the tail THEN glue the nose peice to the wings.
DO NOT glue the nose peice to the tail assembly!

Step two is to glue in the spar and the two aileron counterballance supports and then the elevator spar.

-Note the size of the CF strips!

The thickest is width is for landing gear legs, wing spar and elevator spar.

The thinner width is for the aileron support and tail skid.

Next, glue the bottom half of the fuse pieces togather and glue just the bottom to the bottom of the fuse.

The kit comes with a large EPP square but I also use some 90* aluminum angle stock to ensure for square on the full length of the fuse.

The next step is to cut and install the 1mm (not the 2.5mm) CF stiffeners to the bottom of the fuse.

Sam has made this easy by giving you the lengths of each support and a picture where they will fit.

Just cut them to length and push them into the foam with a twisting motion. Hit with glue while keeping the fuse square and in 15min you'll be finished!

This will also be where you would install the main gear legs in the wing and fuse slots. Cut to the length you want and then glue on the wheel pants.
I fly off grass and rarely indoors so I did not install gear on mine.

Sam has a new EPP wheel and poly bracket set for rolling gear that he will be including in newer kits. I got mine before he had that option.

Last step to airframe assembly is glue te too half of the fuse togather and to the rest of the airframe.

Then glue the small flat CF rod in its slot on te tail and cut as long or as short as you like for a tail skid.

Jake,
The bracket for inboard rolling wheels is a poly, not G10. Same stuff as the horn material. I had forgotten that I need to send that off to you. Expect it in the mail tomorrow.

My guess is you will have no need for the wheels. The intended customer for them is the indoor guy who is required to have wheels.

Man, I was kinda cornfused for a minute. Looking over the thread I was trying to remember when I took those pics. Doesn't seem to be familiar, and that doesn't look like my build table... Then it hit me, we have the exact same scale... Those are not my pics.

Looks good!

Sam
