Get-i-up

Wooha there, anyone who's been working on a project for any length of time will have to
admits there is no one product that can get'r done...period. Stop before you knee jerk with
a response.

Scale model design mandates project time lines across which tasks are distributed, and in
most cases team members acquired to accomplish tasks with skill sets exceding core team
members.

The vast majority of the CAD knowledge base is composed of non-professional DIY oriented
tinkers with no real task/result goal...by simple curiosity. Wait...wait...wait Some of these
gained skills exceding their greatest expectation and blossom to share what they learned.

The above happens to each and everyone as a project matures. Oh, by the way...what was it
you thought you were doing with whom?

So, don't go off half cocked in this discussion because you are dealing with work-arounds to
overcome patented processes and cross platform issues of functionality 'tween brand and
media intended to be recepaint of process work.

Crossing the great divide to work with raster and vector drawings, regardless of platform, is
the challenge. This will require more than one graphics editor, and design team who knows
when images are compatible.

The idea here is to not be afraid to say I have betc. een wondering about... and work together
to resolve issues by making sure everyone is on the sam page with the actual goal defined
and in mind.

Most 3d printers come with software conversion to convert your drawings to STL. files to print 3d. So that's NOT a problem. LOL

Love all the exclamation marks!!!! You need to be careful though. Every keyboard only has so many then you use them all up and won't be able to communicate at all.

Has anyone used "FreeCadweb.org".... says it's very much like Solidworks... Haven't had the chance to use it yet and wondering if it's worth pursuing.... Most complexed thing I draw is curving, winding staircases... and of course hobby stuff... Let me know... be nice if it had good surfacing .

ViaCAD 2D/3D
http://www.punchcad.com/p-27-viacad-2d3d-v9.aspx

It so happens the guy who wrote this CAD program used to work for Ashlar and holds the rights.

The price is right too! Mine will be here this week.

Honestly it looks like a cool project. Looks like a good amount of work has gone into it, although from what read on site now work need to go into it. For sure into the assembly module as they mention putting together an assembly isn't smooth and needs work. Another aspect needing work is the “conversion from part to drawings.” Not sure what you would use it for. Is the staircase thing work or hobby? I ask because of the limitations of the assembly module, and not sure the drawing “extraction of drawings from parts/assemblies.” If this is pro work you might want to consider sketch up or solid edge from Dassault.

You'd have to try it out to see. For parametric modeling the price is right (free).
Lots of import options for parts, but you'd have to check ì out.
