Fried my Boscam 200mw?
Hi guys, recently I purchased a few new 5.8ghz 200mW boscam Tx from Hobbyking, along with a few cheap cloverleafs for added range. Previously I have used Fatshark cloverleafs, and long stemmed HK brand cloverleafs to good effect, but they stopped selling the long stemmed variety, and only sell the short stemmed version below:
I plugged the unit into my plane with the short stemmed antenna, turned it on and all seemed to be working fine, after 10 minutes, the thing stopped broadcasting, getting just some linear noise (e.g., not white noise, solid shapes moving, blocks, not random). Anyway, I thought it could be interference, so I tried another plane, but that worked fine. I checked the camera, I checked the batteries, it appears that the problem is with the Boscam Tx. Is it possible that this cheap short antenna has fried my transmitter? Or was it just a dud from the start? Is it worth contacting hobby king? Can I repair the transmitter?
