Pics of Iona village, Nova Scotia

These were taken at Iona, another village central to Celtic culture on the Bras D'or lakes of Cape Breton. The highway and rail crossing over the Grand Narrows, a channel connecting the saltwater lakes.
Cheers!

Hey Bolter, Great pics!

As always, vibrant colours and a level horizon.
I have never seen a rail bridge which opens for river traffic before.
When does it all go white where you are?

Cheers

Andrew

Wow! Amazing pics, especially the bridge shots!

Btw. Frank,
do you use any filters on your LX3 or is it just postprocessing?
Phantastic results, anyway!

Cheers,
Norbert

Splendid! once more you have choosen the right time of the day, when the light is great, offering long shadows and gives the perfect warmth to the colours, well done Franck!

cheers

Thanks to all for your kind comments, glad you enjoyed !

Andrew, it could turn white around here anytime now though it wouldn't last long I hope. the trees are just beginning to change for their fall colors.

Norbert, I don't use any filters just some editing adjustments. I hope they don't come across as being "overdone". I have noticed that when I edit on my latop and figure they are right they can look overprocessed on my desktop, oh well , I just hope for the best, can't calibrate display here.
Cheers all,
Bolter

Hi Frank,

I asked about the filter because I was thinking if some polarizing or uv filter would help against the haze in my pics. I think you have the advantage of very clear air in Nova Scotia.

Regarding overprocessing: I like the way your pics are, but I have heard remarks (not here) on my own pics for having too strong colors. I also have an uncalibrated monitor and can't really judge well. If anything, maybe the greens in the first and last pic appear a bit intensive.

Looking forward to your next series!

Cheers,
Norbert

Excellent, Bolter!
They don't look processed as such to me, just very clear and with deep saturation. I would think some processing had been done, but that is just because I can't remember seeing such saturation in real life. However this can vary a bit as after winter with mostly grey/white/blacks around, any colour can seem very bright, but after summer, colours seem to lose their saturation. I reckon it's something to do with the way our eyes register colour or something. Anyways, excellent shots as always!
