Hobby King Reaktor

Having a bit of a problem with selection of a motor;ESC;batt. for the Hobby King Reaktor. What I thought would be a good selection: HK 2230 1500Kv, 10A ESC and a 500mAh 3S does not lift the plane out of my hand. I have tried a variety of props to no avail.Any ideas would be appreciated if you have experience with this plane. OAW is about 300g.

And you got the prop on the correct way?? Writing / imprint on the prop towards the front of the a/c ?

If you check the listing you will see which motor gets recommended.

HK2612 Brushless Outrunner Motor
8x4 Prop
5~6g Servo x 4
800mAh~1000mAh 2s Lipoly Battery

Your selected motor is close to that BUT notice the LIPO they suggest . 800-1000 mAh 2S

You may not have enough juice with the lipo you are using.

Reaktor

Thanks for the reply. I was using a 500mAh battery as this was the batt. some guys in Palm Desert,CA were using. Actually, they were using 450 mAh 3S. I did not notice which motor they were using, however. I recently tried a 1000mAh with a 7 x 4 prop. and that seemed to lift the plane upward. I will give that a try next time at the field.

Reaktor hk epp 3d

Just got mine in the mail today......Looks like a nice clean design. Should be ok for indoor and outdoor, when it warms up, up here, in CANADA. It has not been to cold yet in Southern Ontario, but we will go out to the Woodstock, RC Field on January 1st. and have some fun.
I am still looking at motor and battery options for this bird, as I like to get 6-7 minutes of Zip or >10 of just slowfly. I have an (over flexed) GP Flattanna, a Wirlwind, and a 1/4" blue foam Yak. The Reaktor looks like it will stand up to all the indoor obstuctions.
I was thinking of putting an Emax CF2812 motor and a 11.1v 1000mAh LIPO. Turning a 8x4.3 or 8x6. May try some 7.4v 800mAh packs with some bigger props.
I keep working on those sharp rudder turns for the small gym at the school.
I hope to see some more posts from others that have the HK, Reaktor .

Well, so I bought a Reactor just because it has the right size to fit in my car, and it has the recommendation from the forum. I added a C2205 -1400KV , 8x4 props and Zippy 1000mAH. Hope to start building next week..

The 7x4 prop maybe the problem

Reaktor HK EPP 3D

Got in a HK Donkey motor with 10 ESC Combo Pack. Other then having to drill new holes in the plywood motor mount it looks like it will work well.
The hobby shop has a 8x4.3 prop that is used by a bunch of other 3D Foamies. A friend has a plane called a Reflex, and it is the same size and weight as the Reaktor, and it uses the 8x4.3 prop. The CA I have works well and foam is ok with the kicker too. Putting some extra long screws in for the motor with some polyurethane glue to firm up the mount.
Still working on those tight rudder turns for the small gym.

I used a Value Hobby E-max CF2822-1200, 20A esc, 9x4.7 APC , Rhino 610-3s.
4 minutes of every stunt you can do.
Lots of fun, this is a very good plane.
3 years later and I'm on my second one. Still my favorite.

Maiden today

It was quite windy but I decided to just hand launch the Reactor. It worked nicely. Must say that the a/c is very sensitive to input , I guess because the control surfaces are big and have a LOT of movement if you go to the maximum of the deflection. In fact it was way to much for my first flight.. even although I was running at 35% D/R with 40% Expo ion normal mode. VERY NICE.

Hi all, On my second Reaktor. Been flying them for about two years now.
This is probably the best plane out there. Inexpensive and is a blast to play with.
My set up on first is Emax CF2822-1200kv, 20A ESC , 610 Rhino 3-cell.
Single 9gr. MG aileron servo and two 5 gr for R & E. Nixed the pull-pull and replaced with 1.5mm CF control rods. Used a 3mm CF strip to stiffen rudder.
New one is same except used a D2822-1400kv motor. I prefer the Emax 2822-1200kv as gives a bit more flight time.
