FPV planes or miniQuad FPV'ing? What do you guys prefer?

Anyone do both?
I'm coming from bigger FPV planes and I'm seeing
the explosion of mini-Quad FPV vehicles (210mm-280mm).

What do you guys prefer/enjoy more?

Setting up my cumberson 1.3ghz GroundStation is getting
to be a hassle, but the tradeOff of using miniQuad's are 5-7min runtimes
I can fly for 30+min on my Bixler v1.1 w/3s-2650mah Lipo

I flew both platform and have bunch of them in diffrerent size.
Both plane and quad have their own area of fun and specialty which i think shouldn't be on the same plate.

For FPV quad i have Q450 that runs for 15 minutes on 3s 2200mah
For FPV micro size quad 160mm runs for 13 minutes on 1s 550mah plus HD cam.

I recommend keep both sets plane and quad for complete FPV experience.

I'm a fixed wing fan, but am about to embark on the mini-quad bandwagon as it looks like too much fun to miss out on, and I like flying close to obstacles so the mini quad looks like it will be the best for that stuff!

I've only FPV'd on Tricopters, but I'm making the move to my Bixler with DragonOSD for RTH and eventually a UHF.

Not sure why I haven't FPV'd planes before as I've had the goggles for nearly a year, but can't wait for maiden soon .

I fly both and I love both. They are definitely "apples and oranges"

Anyone saying "this" is better than "that" doesn't know what he's talking about. While there is some overlap on SOME capability , in the big picture, each provides different flight capabilities and different video perspectives.

Having me tell you what I would recommend based on what I like has no bearing on what YOU like. Go with your gut and get what makes sense to you.

Having said that, what is more important is WHERE will you be flying? Do you live in the heart of a big city or are you out in the sticks? Planes need more space. Multi's can fly from a parking lot. Keep that in mind when you decide

Both are good, i have flown both my skywalker 5000 ft up and my spanky mini H quadcopter 1 ft of the ground hauling @$$, and its all fun. If you can do both then go, i am starting to miss flying airplanes fpv because its very relaxing and you can get high into clouds or just high enough to get a nice view of your area, with quads mini or big it gets scary flying high because if a motor fails or esc, its coming down asap, unless you have a hexa or something like that. I really like the mini quads because when you fly them you can have a lot of fun flying near things or low to the ground and when you crash its usually just broken propellers which are 4 for about $3.85 so it doesnt hurt as much. Just put new propellers and go fly. and you can fly them anywhere and go sorta high and just dive it straight down and fly low and fast, but in the end both planes and quads are just too much fun when flying fpv, its more up to what you want to do, go high and get into the clouds or long range= airplanes. Lower and faster and be able to hover=quads. Just my $0.02
