Battery suggestion for newbie

I have a 42" twin prop coast guard cutter which I want to use as a camera platform for a couple of video cameras. The boat has 2 x 550 torpedo (6v to15v) motors and 2 ESC's. Can anyone make a suggestion as to what batteries I should use to give enough time for filming several RC yacht races (approx 20 mins each race).

Any help would be appreciated.

The usual answer for batteries is "as much as possible". It will want about 12 volts, and as many AH as possible for the run time. Current draw will depend on the props - the best way to figure this is to measure with the props in water. Once the current draw is known, you can make your choice of ESCs, probably from the Mtroniks or ACTion lists.

Li-po gives you the best bang for volume and weight, you can fit about 4 X the capacity in the same volume as a Sealed lead Acid (SLA) battery at about 1/2 the weight as well.

Its a trade off. You can use a 3 stick lipo at 11 volts or a 2 stick at 7.4 if you use 3 stick you will have speed, if you use 2 you could have the same size battery but even double your running time. For your purposes you probably want duration. So you may seriously consider a 2 stick lipo.
