G-2300 Super Tigre idle/break in question.

My G-2300 has about 5 tanks run thru it. Today it seems like a completely different motor. Smooth transition from idle (after sitting there for a good minute or 2) then punching it to full throttle, and everywhere in between. Anyway, when I go to a low idle, it stays running continuously no matter how low I go (until I close the throttle completely obviously), but seems to shake the tail to pieces at low idle. I don't have a tach so I'm not sure how low I'm going but by sound it seems like I should be able to get a good lower idle RPM than I'm getting. The plane just (I stress "just") wants to start moving at the idle I'm currently running. Everything is stock (muffler and plug). This is my 1st brand new motor so I'm unsure, but will the idle smooth out the more it breaks in? I'm running a 16x8 prop and cannot go much bigger because it's on my Hanger 9 Christen Eagle. (The plane flies great by the way). Just looking to get about 100 more RPM lower than I currently am.

Lower than this ? ( 1950 Guzzi Falcone 500 )

Il minimo del falcone (0 min 27 sec)

Seriously it can get little smoother with usage...dont know how practical and safe could be to look for the lowest idle speed

You can always use a lower-pitch prop and keep a reliable idle. I'd rather do that than risk a flameout from too low an idle.

I'm not looking for the lowest idle possible, just about 2 clicks lower than it currently is. Was just wondering if it was going to smooth out when it breaks in more. It seems a little high right now is all.

Use an OS "F" or a Fox Miracle glow plug and lo-nitro fuel. It will run fine on 0-5% nitro. Set your highspeed needle for max rpm, then back off untill it drops a few hundred rpm. Set the lo-speed needle for a good transition from idle to full throttle. The 2300 I had, would idle incredibley slow, but I was using a pump system. The right glow plug will make a big difference on how well it runs.
