Good idea to go to different prop until you are more use to this. I feel I am pretty close to expert at landing mine and I still have occasional prop breaks. Just yesterday chipped prop on takeoff due to hitting small rock/pebble on runway. These are the most fragile props I have ever used (but look and perform awesome).

I tried an APC 7x6 E prop and it flew okay. But I recall was a pain in the ass to mount because there is no simply prop adapter for these motors to fit APC.

Hey everyone. My buddy was flying this plane and lost control and it nosed in. The planes in OK shape, but the shaft is terribly bent. I know we can replace the shaft, but we both would rather just buy a new motor to put into it. I usually buy my parts and stuff from Hobby Kind and was wondering if any of you could offer a good recommendation on a replacement motor from them that is shipped from the West Coast warehouse?

I was thinking this looks like a good replacement (slightly lower Kv, but that's not a big deal for him).

It looks similar to the original motor:

I bought a few of these motors from Hobby King for my 800mm planes. I installed one in my P-51 Mustang and it flies better than the stock motor

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...tor_250w_.html

the only problem is the motor mount holes don't line up exactly to the stock mount. I just drilled the holes to match.

here are the two motors side by side....stock motor is on the left

Excellent. Thanks for the suggestion.

Did it come with the threaded shaft?

Does anyone own or has flown both the FMS T-28 V2 (ie as sold by motionrc) and the current airfield T-28 (nitroplanes)?

I've tried to follow along from the history of the thread, it appears as though owners of original FMS/airfield T-28 were unhappy with the flying characteristics and quality of the "new" airfield brand but from what I can tell, the FMS V2 is more like the original but perhaps a little easier to fly?

I have and fly both....you will never know the difference ! I can't tell the difference myself after they are built

I heard that FMS V1 had just wire gear with no gear pants and detail. Also that there was some CG change that made it easier to balance on V2. I think the Airfield is the same as the FMS V1.

FMS T-28 Trojan V2 (800MM) PNP Maiden Flight on my Birthday

Yesterday was my Birthday. To celebrate the occasion, last week I picked up an FMS T-28 Trojan V2 800mm PNP, a Spektrum AR400 4-channel receiver, and 2 Eflite 3S 1300mAh lipos. My LHS was also kind enough to switch out the stock 2S power lead for an EC3 connector for the 3S lipos. This is the Maiden Flight footage from yesterday.

FMS T-28 Trojan V2 (800MM) PNP Maiden Flight on my Birthday (5 min 12 sec)

Aside from my first plane (the venerable Hobbyzone Champ), the FMS T-28 Trojan V2 800mm is my first non-AS3X plane in my fleet and despite some of the gusting that was present at the park, this T-28 was solid and predictable. I noticed however that on take-off there was a significant amount of torque steer to the left, which I had to counteract with some right rudder. I also noticed that on hard throttle punches, the T-28 would slightly attempt to roll left due to the amount of sudden torque.. All of these sudden little movements that I probably never noticed before since any of my AS3X-equipped planes would have most likely absorbed those outside forces. After some light trimming, this FMS V2 T-28 800mm flew great with a jet-like presence. Landings are also a non-event with the robust gears. This plane comes in on approaches beautifully! With the timer set to 5 minutes on my Spektrum DX6 transmitter, I was able to easily hit my target flight time with plenty of power on reserve for landing approaches. Voltage left on my 3S battery read 11.44 volts.

Something tells me I'll need to stop by my local hobby store again. I'm going to need more batteries.

EC3 Power Lead Connector for 3S Lipos

SETUP / EQUIPMENT
Receiver: Spektrum AR400 4-Channel Receiver
Transmitter: Spektrum DX6
Battery: Eflite 3S 1300 mAh 20C
Timer: 5 Minutes
Battery Discharge: 11.44 Volts out of 12.60 Volts

Control: 100% Rates
Expo: None

Camera: iPhone 6 at 1080P / 60 FPS

Unfortunately I couldn't find any thread for the FMS T-28 Trojan V2 (800mm) as every thread I've seen is for the 1400mm.

Strongly recommend the Lemon stability receiver for this plane, really helps with the 800mm planes and are Spektrum compatible. I love my 800mm T28. Only problem is the props break very easily, sometimes even when I have what looks to be smooth takeoffs and landings. Can get expensive to keep replacing these.

Are you using a 2 blade and belly landing? If you ARE belly landing, just swap it to a 2 blade. I had 30+ flights on my 800mm Corsair and never broke a prop after doing this.

I already ordered the Spektrum AR636 with Programming Cable.

I don't plan on belly landing this plane.
