All you need to do is get some cardboard -- anthing from file folder (a little thin) to cereal box cardboard. Trace and cut around the muffler mount, punch holes, and put it on. It will compress and the metal will keep it from burning. You could also slather some RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) rubber on it (available at auto stores) -- or just buy some gasket material from the auto store. All you need.

I think the phrase is "And Bob's your uncle."

And happy flying to you, too.

Instead of cardboard why not use auto gasket material?

I used a little smear of high temperature silicone sealer, available in any auto parts store. It has worked perfect for a couple years now.

All my OS, Enya, Supre Tigre, Thunder Tiger, HB, K&B motors in 70's .. 80''s were plain faced joints without gaskets ... rarely did we do anything gasket wise ...

Times move on ...

The gasket material is flexible, even with the muffler tight, that with the ign. pulses, the muffler is flexing up and down with all the weight hanging out on the end, that it eventually disintegrates the gasket material. As said above, use somekind of automotive gasket maker. It's the problem with the two parallel screws and no support out at the muffler itself.
