Help making replacement Stryker Ailerons

Hi - I have seen a few threads on balsa ailerons for the PZ Stryker F27C. Is there a preferred size of balsa stock people are using ? What about Depron ? I want to resurrect my Stryker but need ailerons ! Cheers

Hey now,
Unless you're only doing slow flight and mild aerobatics stay away from Depron ailerons. If you go with balsa I'd suggest 3/16 sheet balsa. Sand a taper into the aft end and round or angle the leading edge and then cover them with packing tape. That hold up and last a good long time.
A lot of folks will suggest 1/8 balsa but I find that to be a bit thin and fluttery for high throws and higher speeds.

So I don't need to try and find proper aileron shaped balsa stock ? The stuff I have found is 10mm thick which I think is too big.

You can either buy aileron stock or do a bit of sanding.

So 3/8" is 9.5mm - you dont think thats too thick ? Thats basically what I already have and the ones I made hang down lower than the TE of the wing.

The Stryker doesn't use regular aileron stock.
It uses flat stock, so you could build it out of any thickness that feels thick enough.
From 1/8 to 3/16 would be close to the original.

Damn, sorry about that. Wrong thickness.

I meant the 1/4" and then sanding down. Sounds like you've got it worked out though.
