NEW flying wings from HObbyking - good for FPV ?

Hello guys,

Check out these 2 potential FPV platforms:

small one (600mm):

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...600mm_ARF.html

large one (900mm):
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...900mm_ARF.html

These "seem" to be the Techone wings:

Did anyone try these and can comment on how they compare to the maxi swift or zephyr ? the price for the large one (30$+shipping) sure is tempting.

not to be the perpetual downer, but naw man. that's an aweful lot of video/transmitting/recording equipment, plus gunna wanna upsize the motor to handle the weight increase, and its battery for duration. for not that much wing area. not that you couldn't... point being it'd fly better with normal fpv gear on something... bigger... hell. a gopro without a case weighs more by itself than the all up flying weight of the 600mm wing. not that you have to gopro, just throwing out an example.
another example being the apparently popular zypher in FPV trim is nearly 5 pounds with a 54" wingspan.

not saying it wouldn't be easy to do with the normal 1/3" ccd and no gopro. just saying it'd just be better if the thing was bigger. they make the same thing in a 4X" wing instead of 35"?

Yep, i agree. seems like the laege one could do with a standard FPV setup, and could probably carry a key chain HD cam also, but not much more.

Still, for the price, it could make a great short-medium range FPV bird !

they actually look pretty fun. If my scratch-made 34" wing fails, then im def buying the bigger one from them. Btw, you don't have to have a gopro on everything.

i saw a guy FPV this in Canberra and it was awesome!! i think you can see video's on "AP_OZ" channel on vimeo..

from what I've been told its all about CG

i bought one of the ones below ages ago and quickly sold it, cause i didn't like it. i probably should have spent more time on balancing it properly

the root/core looks thicker on the new one though, so i'd be waiting to see what reviews come out on the new "koi" 900mm first..

Now that I've got the ball rolling in a long range setup I might just have to try one of these as a fun fly machine. I miss buzzing through trees and down my street. Ain't gonna do that with my fully loaded plane. I need something that can hit a tree full throttle and bounce back up for another flight

I'm about half way through building my TekSumo. Just the electronics to go.

I was thinking about cutting out the Batt and Electronics bay, then pushing them down and gluing, so that the gear goes on top of the wing.

Can anyone see a reason why this would be a bad idea?

I am thinking exactly the same thing. I wonder what was on their mind when they design the wing that way.
Apart that I don't have any issue with the wing.
Not maiden it yet. I will upload some photos soon.

Did a test with a 2600kv/6x4 motor yesterday , but no real speed increase from the 2200kv/6x5 I tried first.

I believe it will be ok for close range fpv .. cam + tx + simple light OSD.
Im running a 1500mAh lipo... good for 15-20min flying.
I will try to swap over my light fpv gear from my Falcon Wing to this one and see how she behaves.
