I think if you build it all out of 9mm it will still fly if you use a bluewonder since its all about weight use a small 3 cell battery like a 300 mah and do anything you can to keep weight down.

thanks. I may just order the 6mm epp from rcfoam--they don't have 5mm--for the wings. But you didn't mention what kind of lipo you use for the Sloroller and the time you got from it with the specified prop. Best to you.

I like the motrofly 1350 with a 2 cell 360 rhino pack 7.4 volt 2 cell and a GWS 9050 prop battery is a (20 C ) pack I then went to a 2 cell pack that is a 350 (30c) pack and get about 7 minutes of good flying just don't hover for too long this plane will suck up the battery.

2 questions for you Tall: 1. Where's the CG? 2 Did you do a 45 degree bevel on the ailerons and the trailing edge of the wings (where the ailerons attach) or did you just do 45 degree bevels on the ailerons?

thanks for any info.

cg is right on the wingspar of the top wing

And yes I put 45 bevels on all control services.

It's coming along. Differences from plan: all 1.3, 9mm EPP, side braces instead of carbon tube along fuselage and home-made firewall mount.

Hey Tall,

Maidened it this evening. Man, that was fun! 8.25oz AUW with a 3S460mAh rhino, but it was still very floaty. It was even floatier with a 3S 360mAh rhino and hovered just as well. I can finally enjoy a biplane. My tensor keeps me on edge and that's not as fun as when you can relax.

Flights were typically 4 minutes hover and 4 to 5 minutes of flying around. It almost hovers itself and if you can get it in the right spot it almost knife-edges by itself too. It's a good design, but you have to use the rudder. I don't have a video camera, but if I ever get a chance I'll get somebody to video. Thanks for a great design!

Is your super-slo 28 as fun as the Sloroller? If it is, I'll have to start building. I almost did start the SS-28 but another project got in the way.

Thanks

yes Its a fun plane and the way you built it using foam as side braces makes the plane stiff and light enough to have fun.

I want to make a version out of all 6mm foam the weight saved would make this plane a Superslobipe that might just hover own its own.

The superslo28 is a floater but not like the bipe but will do better 3D

Version 2 is in the works so stay tuned.

I think I'll do that too--use 6mm. I'm assuming you mean 1.3# 6mm EPP, not depron, for your new Sloroller. Thanks for all your help in building and giving info and tips.

Here's the finished product after putting on a landing gear. I thought about leaving it without the gear (and extra weight), but I love doing touch and gos. AUW with gear and no battery: 6.84 oz. Thanks again, Tall for such a neat design.

Help It's heavy!!

I just finished my Sloroller but it came up 285gr (10oz). It's all 6mm depron and my setup: HXM2730-1300 motor (http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=2069), 12A esc, 500mAh 3s lipo, two 5gr and one 9gr servos. I tried 8x3.8 and 9x6 props but no luck! Motor gets really hot (80 C) and it hovers at almost full throttle. Any suggestions for another motor at 12A?
Thanks
Thanos

Thanks TallFlyer. It seems kind of heavy and too big though!! 77gr motor?
I know it won't be match of a slow-roller with 300gr but I hope it will fly decently. I looked up a bit and found http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=2111.
Thanks for your input and time. (Definitely big thanks for the free plans... slofly28 is my everyday plane!!)

Hi Thanos, I used pretty much the same set-up as you. I use this motor with a GWS curved 8043 prop, a 10 amp esc and a 3s 460mAh rhino:

http://www.headsuprc.com/servlet/the...lectric/Detail

I used .047 carbon rods for pushrods. I get about 4 minutes of pure hover and the motor gets a little hot. I get up to 10 minutes of easy flying and the motor gets a little warm. So I don't know what to suggest. Maybe depron is much heavier than 9mm 1.3# EPP.

My AUW with the 3s 460mAh rhino is 8.34 oz. Best of luck!
