Question
Something micro and stable?

Hey folks, pretty new to this hobby, been building all winter, and I am addicted. Hope i like flying them as much now that flying weather is getting here.

I have 5 or 6 planes built so far. But I was thinking that I might not always want to drive out to my flying fields. So I was wondering if there is anything recommended out there, as far as micro planes go, something small enough that I could fly it around my backyard, maybe practice some 3D stuff. Just something that does not need a big field to fly in, Something in the 12 to 15inch range maybe? Anything out there that small that flies well in no wind?

I would love it to be a scratchbuild but would consider a kit as well if thats what is most recommended. Thanks everyone.

A nutball is great for getting use to tight spaces and if done in EPP it's rugged if the space wins . Your request for tiny ( 10-15") brigs to mind aircraft like the Shark Bait. BUT Shrunk down many 3D designs using an AR6400 series receiver & linear servos on 2 cells with a park 180 outrunner at 2500Kv , can be a blast in small spaces. Built with EPP may cost more than dollar tree foam , but you don't use much on these tiny planes & the weight doesn't creep up from adhesives doing repairs.

The Nutball or the Dart-XS, both can be flown indoors so that means a back yard or very small field, half (1/4) a soccer ground or basket ball court. We had 2 Darts and 4 Nutballs at our last indoor flying session.

Here's another little plane you might like. Excellent small 3D plane and a " flies on a rail" type plane. Hard to find in a plane this size that does 3D well.
Hangs on the prop with the best of them.

Very cool ,Lots of choices, I might just build them all. I have so much more time to fly after work if I don't need to load everything into the car and go to the field. If I can come home and go out back with these mini's and practice, wow, I will fly so much more. Thanks again, and if there are more, feel free to list. I now have ap roject queue taking me into next winter I believe, and talk about extreme's. I am looking for as micro as i can get now, but next winter I am building the Polaris 1.8x which is 73" in length. LOL. I can't wait to build that. I was order #2, but it will wait to be built.

Back off on the control throws and put in some expo, and it will fly like trainer plane.
Made from $ Store foam so it's inexpensive to build too.

Cheap N Easy

Not micro but easy to fly in a small spaces and it is what the name says Cheap - takes one sheet of DTF and inexpensive components and Easy - All cuts are straight and many cuts result in ready to use pieces.

CheapNEasy 11 17 13 HD MOV (4 min 59 sec)

I am using more space because I had it but could have easily kept the plane within 50 feet.

The Nutball is also a very good choice for tight spaces. MPF is great for a Nutball
