Molt Models Hellcat Maiden

Well tonight, despite the winds I went for it. My first hellcat flight was from a handlaunch with no LG installed. This thing took off like a rocket compared to my Bantam Bipe. Flew very straight, only 2 clicks right aileron needed. Only flew for about 3 minutes due to wind and getting dark. In general I was very pleased with this flight, except for the ailerons. There seemed to be a slight delay in the roll. This of course is only after a 3 minute flight in the near dark. I can't wait to get some more time on this plane. Of course I should add that I broke to rear fuselage stringers while carrying it to my car, did not affect flight. This kit was enjoyable to build even though it is on of the first runs apparently( got it for my birthday last august). I understand some changes have been made to the instructions. The plane balanced right on cg on plans and all control throws set to reccomended settings.

Specs:
AUW: 6.9oz
Kokam 1020 lipo
IPS A w/9x7 prop
piixe 7 speed controller
3 gws pico servos
gws naro receiver

Dave

ps: I called guillows for decals from their hellcat kit and the woman said she would send them out no charge because they were only a dollar, crazy. I would have gladly paid, but oh well.

Congratulations Kazz! I wish my wing was as warp-free as yours seems to be.

Dave,

I think your Hellcat looks wonderful. Congrats on a very fine job!
I see she has a few Jap kills after her first sortie, you must be a good pilot.

Looks good. See what difference a digital camera makes on a thread. You've got the designer giving you a pat on the back. Good JOB!

Very nice Kazz, looks like a much better covering job than I did on mine!

Now James, not all of us are capable of flying a plane and taking pictures at the same time! Not to mention, with the ailerons REVERSED. LOL

Thanks for the praise guys. I'll try to get some inflight pics as soon as the wind dies down around here. Seems like I've been waiting for calm weather for months.

Ha, I'll give you that little dig Mike.

Just a thought for dummies like me - maybe a little diagram somewhere in the instructions to show which way the surfaces should move when you move the sticks in each direction. Might save a few dumb mistakes!

Did I mention I do love flying my Hellcat?! It lands so well, and take offs and landings are the best bit of flying for me!

I have a question about the prop for this plane. Alot of people seem to use a 3 blade 9x7 cut down to 8 inches I think. Is there any noticable difference in performance between this and a 9x7 2 blade, other than scale appearance?

Holy smokes, this is a nice plane! I just built the H-L Scorpio Hellcat, and am really, really thinking of building and flying this little parkflyer to train on.
