FoxtechFPV Pivot Retractable Multirotor Landing Gear

With the explosion of 3 axis brushless camera gimbals the need for affordable retraceable landing gear has never been greater. FoxtechFPV to the rescue!

Splash

Get those landing gear out of your shot!

The explosion of 3 Axis brushless gimbals the demand for an affordable set of retractable landing gear has never been greater. And with the size of heavy lift rigs getting bigger and bigger a set of retracts that can hold some decent weight is required as well. FoxtechFPV is a company with their finger on the pulse of the multirotor world and saw this demand and met it! Just today FoxtechFPV released the Pivot retractable landing gear for any rig with 16, 22 and 25mm booms.

From the pics released, it looks like Foxtech has used a dedicated electric retract/servo per gear leg. And from the specs released each leg can hold 10kg (around 22lbs per leg!) which will allow these to be used on many of the current heavy lift rigs! ** Please note these gear mount to the arm boom so certain boom configurations will only work without a custom mount. . Y" Hex, and I" Octo will work with no modifications.

SPECS:

Weight: 280 grams (per leg)

  • Load Limit: 10kg per leg
  • Retract Speed: 4.5 sec descending/3.5 sec ascending
  • Input Signal: PWM 900us - 2100us
  • Power Consumption; 400mA (ascending)/ 300mA (descending)
  • Price: $130 (Pre-order) $150 Normal (Per leg)

Does a carbon tube, retract servo, 2 tube clamps and a few springs cost $150?! Thats $300 a pair! You could probably make them for $60 a pair.

Probably, but at least 3 hours of cutting carbon involved.

Do they come pre constructed? Would it be easy to shorted to any length?

I have them, I like them, seem well built, and I haven't seen other retracts, but they have a well designed mechanism that doesn't look like it can fail. They go up and down in a few seconds. Come with all the parts you need.

I think the only downfall that I have seen is that you can't adjust the end points individually to my knowledge. I would like for them to not raise so high, but to change that I would have them go past vertical on the down position, so I am stuck with what they have.

With a 900mm you should be fine with them.

Warning for a 1200+ size copter.

You will likely need to cut the legs a LITTLE shorter then stock maybe just a few inches to feel good about the stability. I also have some longer 10mm cross bars on order that I will cut to around 750mm as I think that the copter is pretty wobbly at 500mm. I am still happy with them!

Not at all. Just add a metal retract servo to the top of the legs! Lots on YT with lots of methods ideas on how to do it.
Good job this is not a DJI product or it would be twice the price!
