Here's a picture of my Gentle Lady wing on an Electra fuse that has a 2215-1200kv brushless outrunner and 2200mah 3S lipo. The fuse was built in 1983, the wing in 1990. Original covering on both. I lost the GL fuse and Electra wing somehow so I mated the two, extended the nose and updated the electronics. My friend in the background is working on an Elegance 2meter from Flying Models. He just bought it off of me and is installing his radio. April 2010 picture.

I have a bent wing Sagitta 900, RES. It was built in 1984 mostly by my brother because he says I can't build worth a darn. It last flew in 1986 and it has been hanging on slings since then. Sadly, I lost the canopy, hatch and the wing rods due to multiple moves. I also have a partially built Great Planes Spirit 100 that hasn't been touched in 4 years, two more Spirit 100's still in their boxes, and a Top Flite Antares 100 still in its box.

Interesting, the Piece O' Cake's wing is exactly the same as that of the Drifter II, and I felt that a friend's Drifter II was the better light air 72" glider than the Wanderers that another friend and I were flying at the time.

Drifter II, completed by LVsoaring in his RCG build log:

And I thought I was the only one who..

Until i read Chip Greely's Post #3 in this thread, I thought I was the only one who had ever placed a Lil T wing on a Doodler fuselage years ago. Never mind how I looked in 1984, the combo was a great 2 meter sailplane.

My 2 Cents worth......

Hey, my best flier so far is Glider #4, my "Almost-completly-modified-GreatPlanes-Spirit-2M".

I'm quite pleased with the speed range on "this" Spirit 2M(I don't know about stock Spirits by any direct experience), it will penetrate and fly fast and far when fully ballasted on a breezy day, but on a calm day I remove all the ballast and it floats around nice and dreamy. Of all my gliders, it has the most "minimum sink" unballasted, and yet has the most "maximum Go!" when ballasted.

Adios - Paul

Reminds me of the old NSP Kestrel 2M, though I can't find a picture of it to confirm. That one was a nice flyer. Sal let me fly the prototype once. Was able to keep it up for a while just before dark in November in Vermont.

My favorite floater is a new kit from Isthmus Models. It's called Duet. A beginner to intermediate 2 meter that is rugged and flies well. The first kit run of 6 is for sale on my website.

Hi Mark;
I will agree that the Duet is a very nice model. I had great interest in Jacks building log. It is simple, great looking and from reports from Jack, a great performer. If I were not building a KC Miles, I'd be looking to pick up your Duet. A sure winner.

Next project 2 meter Miles

Major progress on my Miles. Few more nights and I'll be sanding.

Hi Kurt,

Got the fuse lined out 100% and gear installed. Tail feathers uncruched just need to cover the stab. Laying up the inner panels on my glass wing table, prolly be Spring before I'm done.

P.S. Sorry Kurt, I just read through the entire thread and saw your maiden report on the Viking, I have to stop skimming like I do. Great report and sounds like you have a winner there. A good build shouldn't need much tweaking like you just proved. I'm all about slow floating and relaxing in a light breeze and sounds like what you have. I wouldn't worry too much about the flutter as long as you're good going up on the tow. Good colors! You get some sun through that yellow and it's gonna pop big time.

Best,
Don

My 2 current floaters: a resurrected Sagitta 900 and my e-Yardbird. I love them both for completely different reasons, but they both float very well.
