It´s time to build an scratch Barracuda.

An impressive silouete, in one word, Beautifull plane. Today i finish the plug to make the molds of the plane. Of course, the pics bellow....

Cool. Looks like an edgy Rodent.

Yeah that looks pretty sinister right there. V tail suits it quite nicely.

the plug..

I need to ¨retouch the plug using bondo and sandpaper, in two or three days a finish the plug, prime and paint the piece to make the mold, and yessss.. the V tal is mandatory, i have pictures of others with a conventional * T* tail, but the V is the better for me.

Maybe i modify the servos requeriments and add one for an airbrake or spoilers, but i´m not shure in this moment.

Regards.

Inspiration.

I gained some inspiration from the Barracuda for my Wompoo which you may have seen. If I was to do it again, I would put less "camber" into the fuselage. Flies great though, very fast.

The Cuda and the VS planes

They aren´t similar, and different concepts in soars planes, the pitcheron of the VS¨s uses the total movements of the wings without movement of the tails, and the cuda uses ailerons and elev-rudder in both versions, the Vtail and rudder-elevator. The secret of the Cuda´s are the few drag, and the Don Ayers irfoil used in the wings. I have in mind to replace the airfoil of the tal with a H32, not the 8020 used in the original models ( Dr. Drelas ) ( Thanks winchdoc ). Is mandatory the use of a different tip, the picture explain the problem.

Thanks and remember the language of the thread used in RcGroups, not for us,

Hoerner

Good reminder of the "Hoerner wing tip" design Gonzalo!

Keep us posted with progress.

Jim.

p.s. Will yours be a removeable wing? Or a one piece plane?
You might be interested in having a look at my alignment jig set up. I think there is a picture on my Wompoo build log.

HI Jimbello
I´m a permanet ¨spy¨ of your thread and comments in RCgroups, i saw the alignement system created, and the winchdoc too. Under the school of Reed Jart, i follow the system of the wing fixed to he fuse permanently.

I need to add a piece of wood to the nose to modify the view, actualy it´s similar of an ¨icecone¨ UGLY....=%&

Thanks and welcome to the thread.

I would encourage you to take plenty of time with the fuse plug. Make any changes and even make another as well. Compare and decide which is best.
Once you go to the finishing and moulding stage, it's unalterable (needless to say).
It's going to be a great plane I'm sure. Very, very fast! Have you got some slopes with good landing zones?

Jim

The fatal nose..

Ok

Today i add more wood, sand, blood and patience to create a new sculpture.. and yes Jim, i have a couple of areas to fly good planes, now i have a Jart and a Rodent and the trilogy is complete with the cuda. In two or three days i finish the new ¨serious¨ nose.

Regards.

That's definately much better Gonzalo!

However, I can detect a slight hump around the point adjacent the black mark near the leading edge of the wing fillet. Might just be the picture, but have a good look along it in differing light conditions etc. Multiple checks for symmetry etc.
