Twinstar power Cutout on Buddy Box Flight

During the first training flight with my
friends new twinstar, at the point of transfer of control to the buddy box the motors would cut out. He has a Focus 4
for the master and a Futaba SkySport Buddybox. The ESC is a Pegasus 35 with
supplied 6vsp400's with no additional capacitors other than the built in ones.
The throttle setting was the same as the master. Yes the motors would resume power,
and it was intermitten at times. Several
flights were had and the problem was happening often enough to be troublesome.
8 Cell 1700 pack supplied power for very
spirited flights. The BEC is enabled.
Does anyone have any ideas?

It's probably the communication between your Futaba and his Hitek. I'm suprised that it worked at all. Try another Hitek transmitter or Futaba. In other words, try using the same brand of transmitters and see if it works. I've never had any luck connecting different brands together. IF you can get the Futaba and Hitek to talk to each other, make sure that your throw distances (the amount of servo travel) are set alike.

Try flipping the throttle reverse switch on the Futaba. Futaba Tx's need to have the throttle reversed to work with just about any speed controller on the market whereas Hitec's don't.
