Tailerons

Do all of the foamy jets require tailerons? I started to build a h-29 jet and just found out you need a special radio that is able to move the tailerons through delta mixing. Is there a way around this problem, or should i build a different plane? Nothing is simple anymore.

You can get a delta or v-tail mixer that hooks into the reciever. That would keep you from having to purchase a special transmitter.

It is possible to do mechanical mixing as well, for example: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...75#post9105549.

The above link was one of the first google hits for "mechanical delta mixer"; I'm sure you can find a lot more, once you know what you're searching for.

Not all jets require tailerons, some use regular elevator and ailerons.
Check this thread, page 14, post 199, for the X-7 Taurus. Plans are in my blog.

of course you could fly the H-29 with ailerons and elevator as well.
ailerons via torque rods operated by one servo for instance. the elevator would
then be made as one piece and operated by the other servo.

but...if you intend to stay with that hobby i can tell you from my experience that it is worth investing in a programmable transmitter (starts at about 80$). lot's of cool designs around here use tailerons/delta-mixer/v-mixer.

cheers
