So you're saying, I should chuck the stock antennas in the bin and get a decent set?
Dipoles or something?

Dipole or better, but even a DIY dipole is OK.

Depends on the range you're looking for.

If you're using a very good antenna on TX side (something on a tripod), you could consider keeping the stock antenna on RX.

The stock antennas are not tuned to the good frequency. I wonder if this is not done deliberately, to have a low radiated power, maybe for legal reasons.

I have the orange rx too. I want the rssi to be more accurate. It jumps quite much when I have the antenna from tx 1 ft away from the receiver. What capacitor, resistor should I use between the rssi cable from the rx, and to my OSD?

If you've ever heard of a ham radio "Fox hunt" you will know that you can use your body as a signal blocker to locate the signal source.
Tuck your RX against your body and turn until the signal fades. Then go the opposite direction. When you get really close, if you have a removable antenna, pull it off.

Works pretty good and fits in your pocket! Conveniently the worse the radio is, the better it usually works - and it doesn't get much worse than FRS

I do that with my quad when it goes down in tall grass with my frsky telemetry.... This is going to be a dedicated tool......
Hams have another game where they track unlicensed stations/violators they use yagis and they will find you ..... Pretty sure that would cut down search time

With ULRS, the meaning of LED is different, one means "sending packet" and the other one means "receiving packet". From your screenshot, the firmware was correctly uploaded, for a RX.

Do you have a running TX too ? If yes, both LED should turn on (flickering).

Is this the correct Capacitor?
