Handguns do not enhance our safety...

Bob Costas goes on a rant about gun control after the recent murder suicide of the KC footballer.

I guess it had nothing to do with the multiple concusions, drug abuse, and alchohalisim not to mention the hero complex and the franchise desire to keep things quiet.

He's an idiot ... Maybe if OJ's wife had a gun, he'd be dead instead of her.

idiotic anti gun ill-rationality. I supposed he would be happier had the player stabbed his wife and himself to death.

all that was missing to really put the finishing touch was a trayvon reference. He threw in what will probably turn out to be the current equivalent, the kid killed for loud music story.

Football does not enhance our safety.

There there should be laws banning it outright, or at best background checks before any player is allowed to leave the field because he might be mentally unstable after being knocked in the head.

There should be a maximum weight limit for all players, about 160lbs should be right to avoid serious brain injury that leads to murder suicides.

All football fans should be required to own a license before supporting their team, a background check before issuing the license will prevent violent people from becoming fans and starting fights in bars over who's team is the best etc.

All football paraphernalia should be taxed and the proceeds from that tax should go to law enforcement and victims of various football related crimes perpetrated by players and fans.

Canada: 31 civilian-owned guns per 100 citizens, 0.51 gun homicides per 100,000 population

USA: 89 civilian-owned guns per 100 citizens, 2.97 gun homicides per 100,000 population

You're not seriously suggesting it's only something in the water that makes Canadians kill each other with guns at one-sixth the rate of Americans, are you?

Get real.

There is another reason you have fewer violent crimes and it has nothing to do with hand guns.

Nope. But if some punk picks up a two by four to kill me, I can outrun him.

An abundance of guns makes it way too easy for you to kill each other.

Of course not. It's also the three-down football that helps to civilize us. American criminals are much worse than criminals throughout the rest of the world. And nastier. Perhaps its all the guns.

I think the Russians would disagree. The Chinese are no slouch when it comes to violence either. That's > 1/2 the world's population right there.
