EDF Ducting assistance

I've got a TamJets 1:8 scale F16. It had a TJ100 running on 10S and in my opinion, severely underpowered for a 17lb jet.

I have since acquired a Schuelbler DS77 HST 120mm fan and motor with up to 6000watts! Surely a beast....

The existing ducting was for the 100mm fan. I have begun the painstaking process of modifying the ducting and saddle to fit the 120. The FSA on the Schubi is 77cm2 and I believe I can modify the inlet ducting inside the jet opening it up enough to satisfy the FSA requirement for the fan. (I can't remove the entire inlet ducting without damaging the airframe). I also believe I can make an adapter to the original main ducting to fit the Schubi.

Now it's up the RCG community for ideas and help!

Thanks guys!

DC

Put a intake lip on the new fan. Then just end the old duct 3 to 4 in from the intake lip..simple..Or make an adapter which ever you like

I do have the bellmouth - just trying to keep it a closed system.

Then cut the old duct back to get a shallow taper and make a new adapter..Unless you want to cut all the old ducting out and make new full length ducts

I agree with turbonut....just add the bellmouth. I am flying a re-powered Stumax 110mm in a Hawk and I removed the intake ducting as he said ...........using the bellmouth on the Stumax..............easy to do and I didn't notice any difference in flight.
