CG Question

hi,

when testing for center of gravity, is it done with the prop and spinner on or off? Some of the props and spinners I use on my planes are rather heavy and have a big effect on the CG location, but since they are normally spinning in the air, not sure what that does to the balance. Any help would appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Dan,
When checking/setting the CG balance on your planes you want everything on there ready to fly. This included the prop, spinner, battery....everything it will have while flying.
As for the spinning prop and spinner? No, that does not affect the balance. The balance is the balance no matter what the parts are doing. The spinning does, however, effect the stability of the model. This can include torque effects such as rolling, etc. and gyroscopic precession which causes pitching and yawing moments. But...not balance.
Hope this helps,
Ken
